Title: Re: Think they got the idea? Post by Jonny on Aug 10th, 2007, 6:33pm Blah, blah, blah, blah! Its all bull shit until that fuckin border is sealed with our military! As it is now the border patrol are told to patrol away from the high crossing areas when its harvest time. One big fucking joke and that joke is on the American taxpayer, sadly! Edit to add: this quote and link below it. "We cannot even talk about border security because of the high levels of corruption," said Victor Clark Alfaro, a Mexican policy analyst in Tijuana. "The smugglers don't care if their clients are terrorists or not. They're like prostitutes. All they want is money." http://www.manews.org/0204muslimsuse.html |

Title: U Post by BarbaraD on Aug 11th, 2007, 8:13am Ya know -- back in 86 there was a law passed that required business owners to get an I-9 along with the W-4 when they hired an employee. On the I-9 it required one picture ID (Passport or DL) and another form of ID (SS card - green card, etc). There wasn't a fine for it - it was just the law. I think I'm the only who did this back then. Since then, they've put a few teeth into that law and there are fines for NOT complying. But employers STILL don't do it, so in my opinion - they (employers) SHOULD be fined if they don't get this done and keep it on file to protect themselves. AND then they would be REQUIRED to hold out taxes (at least FICA). The US govt now wants to put the burden ALL on the employer for their incompentence. Well, their computers are screwed up on SS numbers and names matching, so if they require employers to check with THEM before hiring an employee - this could be a disaster. Every year during tax season, I have a lot of rejected returns because of names and SS numbers not matching. I have to send a copy of the ss card to them to prove that the name matches and SS number is what the SSA GAVE the taxpayer. And so far they haven't changed ONE yet - it's the same thing every year. One kid (6 years now) we have to use his MIDDLE name as his last name to get it filed and every year we try to get it straight - guess when he retires, he'll get checks in his middle name. The govt isn't going to get anything done till we get some people up there with a little sense and some who'll find out WHAT the hell is wrong. Till you DEFINE the problem you can't fix it. I could go on, but I'll save that for my next letter to my Senator -- my Congressman is too damn old and has been there too many years to listen to anything. Hugs BD |
