Title: Monster Truck Accident_ _ Post by barry_sword on Aug 10th, 2007, 10:27am Yet another accident without any safety precautions in place. This time there were 9 hurt including children. Where was the kill switch that shuts it down from an outside source like they use on sanctioned events, like Monster Jam. We do not go to these things that are not done with the crowds safety in place. Too dangerous for the spectators! Here is the clip. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/09/monster.truck.ap/index.html Barry |

I bet personal injury lawyers have booked every open airline seat to DeKalb, Illinois today. This is gonna cost NAPA more than a few bucks....and rightly so. No safety barriers and no one on the kill switch (or it didn't function as designed). Personally I wouldn't have been standing on a sidewalk watching a Monster truck crushing cars on a public street with a barrier, much less without one. No one had any sense yesterday.....not NAPA, not the local police dept, nor the spectators. Tragic. Bill |

Title: Re: Monster Truck Accident_ _ Post by barry_sword on Aug 11th, 2007, 7:37am That is the way it sounds to me also, KOP. It looked like he was in control upon landing then he "burped the throttle" and it sounded like it either hung up or he could not get off the accelerator and the 10,000LB killer was out of control and in God's hand at that point. It could have been a lot worse so we can be thankful about that. Thanks all for your input on this. Barry |
