AT&T owes me some cash !! I sent off the rebate and today I recieved a post card that says I'm not getting it ??? WTF ??  I called the 800# on the card and the representative says I'll have to call them back in 8 - 10 weeks because the 'system is down'  >>> WTF ??

This is BULL !!  I'm ready to switch to another ISP !!

AT & T SUCKS !!

I've already set a reminder ... I WILL be calling back in 8 weeks ... I Will get my cash !! Those bass turds !!

Call and tell them that you no longer need their service and to shut you off NOW!

Then tell them why, that should wake someone up. ;;D

Edit to add: And, tell them you will be telling EVERYONE how you were treated!

20 years ago I purchased a cordless phone from those bastards. The phone quit working about 100 days after I got it (purchased from an advertisement that came with the bill). I went down to the AT&T phone store and found out it had only a 90 day warranty! The lady behind the counter said there was nothing she could do for me, so I replied back in a loud voice” well then I guess I’ll just have to go to Radio Shack to get one that lasts more than a week after the warranty expires”. I was promptly and quietly handed a new one with no questions asked!

A few years ago we signed up for a AT&T calling plan with 200 free long distance per month for 4 months. When we got the bill, we got charged for the minuets. My poor wife spent over 6 hours on the phone with there billing department to no avail! They are so big they know they can screw you without recourse. When they call trying to sell something, I give them the story so as to waste there time like they did me!

Their system is down... for 8 to 10 weeks????? Bullshit.

Call them tomorrow, and ask for a supervisor. Calmly explain the situation, and if you don't get anywhere with that person, ask to speak to THEIR supervisor. Try to keep calm, they will be more receptive to you.Tell them you have already told all your friends and family about this.

They tried to bill me for long distance at a higher rate than they should have. I calmly reminded them of their agreement, and they kept trying to sell me on a different long distance plan. I just kept repeating myself, got a supervisor, and it was taken care of. Took me about 20 minutes.

Good Luck. Just because they are a big company doesn't mean they can treat you like crap.

Jonny is right.  When my "introductory" DSL rate is over and they raise my monthly bill, I call them and tell them Cable modem is cheaper, why should I stay with them.  They always drop me back to $19/mo for another 2 years.

A few months ago I heard on the news that a phone company (it was the cell division) cut service off of like 1500 customers because they called customer service to complain to many times.

Anyone remember the company?

Jonny, that was Verizon.  They cut customers loose and waived their 'early termination fee' for calling support too often.  Classic.  Awesome.  Just Awesome.

Was that the rural people they said they would put in more transmitters for because there was no hard wire service leaving them screwed? Rolo.

Phone companies rate a close second in their being the shittiest to customers as drug companies and drugstores. Threaten to dump them. Make sure they know you are about to talk to businesses about the way you are treated.

I love walking two miles to a drugstore to be told that I have to wait four more days until I can get a refill. The last time I told them that I'd include them in the lawsuit when I had a seizure and fell in their parking lot. I got drugs for two days that way.

I hate the 21st Century.  >:(

It sure isn't what we make of it any more! People used to work hard to please there coustmers when they were all small co's, the government has let legal greed rull the world in this day in age! What happened to the old expression (We exsist because of you the costomer!). >:(

A friend of mine has it about right. Businesses make counter clerks and checkout kids do all their accounting for them so they don't have to pay real accountants. The internet made it worse. No one is allowed to open a cash drawer to rectify a mistake without getting a manager to forgive them and us for making things hard on them.  http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/red mad wild.gif I'm going postal next time

The current attitude towards customers exists because WE, the customer, allow it to exist. In fact, the buying public had big hand in bringing this upon ourselves in the first place.

When the big box stores came on the scene with lower prices due to the economy of scale, we abandoned the locally owned "Mom and Pop" stores to save a few dollars. We traded caring service for lower prices. That trend didn't go unnoticed in rest of the corporate world....they followed the trend. Why spend money to provide service when the average customer doesn't care about it, they want the lowest price.

The best deal doesn't always have the lowest price attached to it.......

I had SBC yahoo DSL service. for a short period of time. yeah, the service was pretty bad.  it was when they increased my charges from $14.95 to $39.95, after just 3 months of service and despite paperwork that said I'd have it for 12 months, that I called and cancelled.

Now it's all Time Warner - digital phone (same #, too), digital cable, and a solid internet connection that actually works with my wireless router.



There are a few customer service people out there willing to take the time to truly help customers.  To them: thank you.
