Title: The eagle has landed. Post by thomas on Jul 31st, 2007, 3:07pm For those who enjoy The Gentleman's Game, I carded my first eagle on Saturday. Drove the green on a short par 4 (280 yards) the ball was two feet above the pin and I made the putt. :o |

Title: Re: The eagle has landed. Post by thomas on Jul 31st, 2007, 3:23pm It helped our team win the event. It was a handicap 4 person team, two best ball tournament. We came in at 36 under par, 108. So we have braggin' rights for a year. ;;D |

Title: Re: The eagle has landed. Post by thomas on Jul 31st, 2007, 3:27pm I actually had three shots that day that would have made highlights on the golf channel. It was a great day. |

Title: Re: The eagle has landed. Post by Jackie on Jul 31st, 2007, 3:36pm Good for you, Thomas.....fun stuff.... :D But....sounds like you and your team are a bunch of sandbaggers.... ;;D You better watch out or the USGA will red flad ya...LOL Love ya, Jackie |

Title: Re: The eagle has landed. Post by thomas on Jul 31st, 2007, 3:41pm I've got my handicap card in my pocket. ;) 100% legit. It was just our day. If two guys were having a bad hole, the other two either got a par or a birdie. It was a real team effort. And a lot of fun to boot. |

I had a day like that once. In Cedar Rapids, IA. With rented clubs. Straight up, no handicap, I shot 6 under. Should have bought those clubs on the spot. I've never had a round since that even came close. |

Title: Re: The eagle has landed. Post by Mosaicwench on Jul 31st, 2007, 5:58pm Sorry Thomas - I love you dearly, but . . . . . GOLF? [smiley=hurl.gif] Mark Twain was right when he said "Golf is a good walk, ruined" |

So can we take from the above statement that you would not like to be asked to be part of a foursome at the next convention? ;) That's exactly how I felt until 9 years ago when I decided to give it a shot and I love it now. |

Title: Re: The eagle has landed. Post by thomas on Jul 31st, 2007, 6:00pm I prefer Winston Churchill's thoughts on golf. "Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into a even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose." |

I started playing when I was 12, played about twice a week into my mid-twenties. Started tapering off until I was only playing once a month or so. Now I haven't played for 5 years and I don't miss it at all. |

Sorry . . I don't do multiples - even for golf!! I played golf with brew when I was younger and then made the mistake of playing with my dad. I swore I'd never play again while he was alive (he turned into a crazed-wouldn't-shut-up-madman on the course). He's dead now, so I'm free to play again but just can't see the point. Especially after taking care of dad for the last three months of his life and my creepy-golf-loving-brother wouldn't even come home from a golf outing when dad was rushed to the hospital the last time. Kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. :P So yes, count me out of your foursome. |

Title: Re: The eagle has landed. Post by Lobster on Jul 31st, 2007, 8:49pm Killer! Last week I had my two best games of the year back-to-back. Feeling all cocky and shit, on my next game I proceeded to shoot my worst game of the year. Just fuckin shoot me. Mayhaps I need to have a meet & greet at my house / country club. My front yard is the golf course, and my house has a golf simulator room. Not that any of that has helped my lousy game much. |

I was even known...once.... to bargain in a retail store. " This price is NOT what I had in mind...How about giving me a 25% discount on acount-a I'm here now and you may have to carry this item as dead weight for another 6 months and then put it on sale anyway? " I got the item at 50% off. lmao back to your reg. scheduled golf scores..sorry Thomas. |
