Well, as I always say, pick your battles. This is not one I'd pick if they were INSIDE my house. Outside is another story.

Hang tough and keep the Benadryl close at hand! Or a shot of epinepherin. Allergic reactions to multiple bee stings can be UG-LY!

They are outside, one under the clapboards where it meets the foundation and one on the side of the house where the mud room meets the house.

Every time I go around the house all I can hear is that damn Benny Hill music.....LOL

Cant do anything right now till the wife gets home, because yesterday they were swarming when I fucked with them. get this, they concentrated on the window behind my puter like they knew I was there.....thats fucked up!

Sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock movie, dude.     ;;D

If you can get to your computer, download this game and play it really fast.

http://bees.qarchive.org/screenshots/justgames-ch/catch-a-bee_170.jpg

Catch A Bee

Catch a Bee is a catchy game which makes time pass as fast as the bees fly past.Colorful musical bees fly across the screen. As bee flies into the bubble wand, left click to blow a bubble. As bee flies out of the bubble wand, release to encase bee in a bubble. That’s how to catch a Bee. Bubble breaks, bee escapes. This is tricky at first but you will get the hang of it after catching the first bee.      ;)

We're dealing with Killer Bees down here. They get under the wood, like your clapboard, and just keep expanding.    Had to get a professional out, and once he opened the siding up,  it was an unbelieveably big hive.

If that's what you're dealing with, better get a beekeepers outfit, hood included, because these things are very aggressive.

Nearly fell off my chair laughing at the mental picture of Jonny running around the house waving two spray cans while being chased by a swamp of angry bees !  [smiley=crackup.gif]

I heard bees of all kinds hate smoke ... How about sitting nearby wearing protective clothing and smoke and blow the smoke at them?  8)

Annette

PS: Cant believe there would be a day when I would encourage someone to smoke!  :P  But then again this is a critical situation and Jonny is special  ;)

I got a case of the hives last time I was at your house.

Bro-

Get some Malithion and make a mix of 50% with it (dillute the concentrated poison with water 1:1) and put it in a spray bottle (one that you can get a stream from) and go out at night and soak the entrance to the nest.  In 2 days they will be gone.  They traips through the stuff and contaminate the hive with the stuff.  Just be sure kids and pets stay away from the treated areas for a few weeks.

My bathroom was filled with yellow jackets a couple of years ago and it was the only way I could get rid of the damn things.  Made taking a shower a life or death project.  LOL

What a couple of wusses.  ;;D
I've had a wasp nest over my front door for about 7 years. Every Spring, I talk to them. I tell them I'll leave them alone, if they leave us alone. And they do. No one who lives here or visits has ever been stung. This year, some barn swallows built a nest where the wasp nest usually is...no wasps anywhere around. It's all about relating to their collective consciousness. It's totally Zen, man.

Sounds more like the Borg than Zen.

Assimilate the suckers at NIGHT when they are less active and spray the hell out of them.

At least they don't carry rabies.

Which brings us neatly back to Paul and his bats story LOL - I never did get an answer to THAT question Paul!  ;;D

Jonny that hornet story sounds awful - Do you have a heightened reaction to stings now? Just asking as I seem to react worse to bites every time I get bitten by something (maybe its just old age eh?!)

Odd subject...I'm allergic/highly reactive to any and all insect bites.  Bee or wasp stings are not deadly, but I'm bed ridden for at least a day or two after a sting with sweats and muscle convulsions, and spider bites will end up huge ulcers.  Mosquitto bites used to become ulcers as well, but the reaction to those is getting less and less as I get older, but I still react worse than most people.

For me its yellow jackets.  2 stings its hospital time 4 or more and I'd never make it there.

As far as bats Helen, it would seem I have another "bat" flying around in my life ::)  At least I know I have been immunized for rabies this time ;;D

jonny, a simple camping trick that works is to suspend a small piece of ham on a string from the stem of a bush or tree a couple inches over an aluminum pie pan full of dishwashing liquid, near the hive.  They buzz around the ham bumping each other and most all get stuck in the thick liquid.  After a couple hours, the surface is full of bees caught and drowned.  Works great, I've used in on yellow jackets a few times.

Redd I get a horrible reaction to any bites too. I got bitten by some sort of bugs over there and my leg is quite nasty at the moment, It's a week since I was bitten too  ::)

Paul you arse - you're confusing bat's and bitches again silly boy  :P

This may not work well in the walls of your house obviously, but if you can get at the hive it works excellent. Guarantied to get rid of wasps and hornets, and bees.

Get a mason jar half full of diesel fuel and through it up into the hive and run like hell for at least 200 feet. The diesel fuel burns their wings off and they will be grounded for the rest of their short life. They will only make it 50 feet or so before dropping. Do it early in the morning while they are still dormant from the cool night. This method gets them all at once. No escapees to come back and start over.

This is how we used to get rid of them on the farm, cheep and 100% effective.

Good luck!

Rolo..

I saw a program on DSC where they used one of those laser temperature gizmos to check the temp of the walls, if there’s a hive in the wall it will be 3-5 degrees warmer than the rest of the walls. It’s worth checking on if you suspect a hive in your walls. Many car mechanics use these on engine over heating problems or maybe you can rent one. Then you’ll know for sure!

Glad you liked the run like hell method, if you look back while running you’ll see them dropping behind you!

This is great stuff.

My neighbor had a hive in his storage shed that if agitated might have killed his daughter if stumbled upon.

He did the diesel thing and we thought it did the trick. They are back and now my tomatoes have a slight petroleum background aroma to them.

Bro-

The fun way is get a couple of cans of Raid wasp and hornet killer, a lighter and start squirting and light the stream.  Instant flame thrower and it is fun!

Just make sure the your home owners ins. is paid up ;;D

This from Paul who has singed the seat of every pair of jeans he owns...  ::)

We got rid of a bees nest once by squirting talcum powder all over it, when they walk that in all over the brand new waxed flooring the Queen Bee beats the living sheet out of them - or thats my theory  ;;D

All I know is it killed the little buggers and my garden smelled as sweet as a baby's (clean!) bottom!

Geeze....we used to do that with starting fluid when we were kids....It's incredible we survived.

It can be tricky Jonny, but then I have all my bug problems under control... http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/fly zap.gif

Got rid of my bees nest in my bushes by nearly killing the bush with chemicals probably banned in this section of the Milky Wayt but that was so long ago that bees hadn't evolved yet into their present level of adaptability. Lucky me.

Wasps seem easier to get along with. They always seem lost.

In your clapboards sounds like an Omen thing Jonny.  :o

Good luck Jonny http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/hunter.gif

I just read this in the paper yesterday.

Bees as well as other flying insects...hate WD-40 and won't go anywhere near it.   If your spray the eaves, which is usually where they make their nests, or anywhere else for that matter, they will leave your house permanently and take up residence elsewhere.

 like maybe at Chewys house?
