Title: Convention site info FYI Post by Peppermint on Jul 24th, 2007, 11:02am If you're serious about hosting a convention, here's what it says on the OUCH site. Take your time and really read, then send in your proposal :) **** http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings.htm Want to Host an O.U.C.H. Convention? If you would like to host an O.U.C.H. Convention in your area, The O.U.C.H. Convention Committee and Board of Directors will review all submissions and decide which proposal will be granted the next convention. The decision will be based on the following: * Accommodations available - Hotels, Meeting Facilities, Restaurants, Attractions, Things to do and see, etc. * Travel Facilities - Proximity to International Airport * Vacation Opportunities - What possibilities does the area afford for attendees who would like to make an extended vacation of the trip. * Previous Convention Locations - We would like give each area of the country the opportunity to host a convention. For that reason we will give top consideration to those locations that have not recently hosted a convention. What do convention hosts do? Convention hosts work with the Convention Committee and the Board of Directors in: * Locating the host hotel and dealing with the reservation office of that hotel to arrange any special packages or rates for attendees. * May be asked to visit the hotels and take pictures of the rooms and facilities. * Making arrangements with the host hotel for meeting and banquet facilities. * Organizing the agenda. * Arranging for any special speakers or presentations for technical sessions. * Setting up and breaking down the convention. * Anything else that needs to be handled in person. |
