wishing the best to you from now on.

John, your happiness is palpable.  The Viet Nam conflict screwed up a whole lot of potential relationships in our generation.  That's one of the lesser-talked about fallouts from that horrible ordeal.  I'm smiling just from reading your story.
All the best.

Pat

No judging from this quarter.  Life is too damned short to be turning away from happiness.

I'm sorry for the turmoil you've had to deal with but it sounds like you're on the upswing now.

Stay Well and Be Happy.

Carol

When you first told me of this, John, I was SO happy for you!  I still am!  It is so good to see an old fart, bubbly!  Especially when that old fart is YOU!

Now you will have no excuse, when Bill and I finally get off our asses and host a Carolina get together, for you and the lovely lady to show up!

John,

You had the courage to follow your heart and do what felt the right thing to do. Most people just think about it and wish that they would, too.

I wish you all the happiness and lots of PF days,
Sanna

;;D ;;DHello Extended Family,
Those of you that know me know I have been going through a long period of deep depression for the past 4 years.  Well I finally have some good, albeit possibly shocking news.  I discovered the source of my depression was actually related to my Ex-Fiancé contacting me to try and reunite as friends.
Over the course of my 35-year marriage, she has tried to contact me several times and the last effort ended in my being very ugly to her.  Through Psychotherapy over the past 15 months, I finally faced the fact that I had unresolved feelings for her.  I have carried the Love I felt for her all those years ago around hidden like a secret, stashed away in the recesses of my mind.
Back in April I decided to write to her and apologize for the way I treated her back 4 years ago.  We began an e-mail relationship and on June the 5th I came to North Carolina to meet her face to face.
Once I looked into her beautiful eyes and touched her hand it was the beginning of the end of my 38-year journey.
I have been absolutely miserable for a long time; the people close enough to be let into my life already know his fact.
At any rate 7 days before my 35th wedding anniversary I told Terri I wanted a divorce and left her for my High School Sweetheart.
I am alive again, I am happy and finally the nightmare of living in chronic depression is over!
So, there you have it!  My Fairytale has come true and I feel whole for the first time since I returned from Viet Nam some 38 years ago!
Judge me if you must, I feel no guilt.  My children are all grown and I lived up to all the responsibilities of my marriage.  Now it’s my turn to be selfish.
Lost in Love somewhere near Ashville North Carolina
                                                                            John (aka Pappy)

PS. Did I mention that I have lost around 80 pounds in the past 3 months and my Clusters have subsided drastically!
