Title: Bad news day.....
Post by BarbaraD on Jul 16th, 2007, 2:20pm
I swear with all that's going on in the world today.... the news media has got to be nutz!

today, they've got a special on WATER -- bottled vs. tap. This you just can't make up.....  :P  Do you realize that you're better off drinking TAP water than designer bottled water? Now that's something I've been loosing sleep over.... They've been doing a special on this every half hour since four this morning. I swear I'm going to get back into soaps if they don't find something better to talk about....

Damn, I am in trouble. I got two 5 gallon tanks of bottled water yet to drink.
Tap water taste like chemicals to me.

If you are not blesses with well water you can try this.

Put a vented container of tap water in the refrigerator for 24 hours before drinking it. This shoud allow all the clorine and amonia to evaorate. This is probably what the botteled water companies do becouse most buy thier water from cities.

You can always do what I do . . . .

Turn the TV off.    ;)

It's very liberating.

we don't buy bottled water here, but we have a rain soft water treatment at home and the water tastes clean without chemicals..no bad  :). My husband takes the coffee from home because he says the coffee at work tastes like pipes  ;;D

So far I am confortable with buying distilled water.  I better not find out that it's not really distilled.

I'm getting real tired of hour-long prison tours as well.
This crap exists because they don't have to pay actors.

Sigh... It's just like Howard Beal said in "Network." He said that woe is us if corporate giants take over broadcasting, who knows what kind of shit will be shown on TV.  He was right.

It would be nice if there were a real news channel. I really don't need more information such as in which Springfield, the Simpsons reside.

I love the bottled water con. Pepsi and Coke sell the stuff too and when I think safe water, I think Pepsi and Coke.  :o

Water around Jamestown is so hard you can walk on it. I like it that way and it's damn good stuff.

In Europe, after WWII, the "Leitungs Wasser" (the water from the normal water system), was not safe because all of the pipes were broken due to the bombings, etc., so canned water, and later bottled water, was brought in by the Allies to ensure a safe supply.  Once the pipes were fixed and the water treatmet plants were operating again, normal tap water was-and remains-quite safe.  However, somehow bottled water had taken hold, became fashionable and now virtually all Europeans will only drink that.  I have always refused to do so-why pay about $2 for water in a bottle when you can get it for free from the tap?  Unless you are travelling in the former Yugoslavia or perhaps Rumania, if you travel to Europe and go to a restaurant, always ask for "leitungs wasser"-it is free and safe to drink-and I am sure that the water in
America is more safe than bottled, designer water, which is just a snob thing.  I understand that there are actually water bars in your country where outrageious prices are paid for what can be had for free! [smiley=huh.gif] ::)

My favorite bottled waters have three other additives: Malt, Hops, Yeast.

Slow news days really make it tough for the networks to sell their pill commercials.  There really is no 24hour news channel, because there really isn't that much important stuff happens on most days.    My brother now gets all his news from the Daily Show.   Some like naked news (for real) on the web.  But seriously, you may want to find a real on-line news site where you can pick and choose what interests you.  Try
http://www.chicagotribune.com/
or some similar sites.

15 billion spent on bottled water by Americans last year.

It's free people. Pepsi and Coke, the largest sellers of bottled water are laughing their corporate asses off.

39 billion empties per year end up in land-fills...amazing.

Soaps? Who needs them? Witnessing some of the nonsensical thing we do as a society make the Soaps seem tame.

Sammy' pregnant with twins by different Fathers...Okay? But 39 billion empty plastic bottles in the dump per year?  That's unbelievable!

Just WHY are we DOING this?  Isn't city water just as pure as it was 15 years ago?

Well water is what we drink, and it is way better than bottle water, and WAY cheaper.  Look at the label, one of the "major" brands says purified tap water.  YUK!  Pool water is for swimming, not drinking.  Go to the city, smell the chlorine when you open the faucet, and we wonder why we are all sick.......makes me wonder......Leah.

Well....   :-[

Back when we had the summer cabin up by Garden Valley on the Middle Fork of the Payette, we used to drink water from an open spring.  Piped it down the mountain into a 400 gallon holding tank.  Closed it off and flushed the pipes out in the fall, and let the spring run free in the winter.  We called it "Ellen's Creek".

In the spring, we cleared everything out and flushed it.  Used the water for everything.  We got it tested once in awhile (nothing wrong with it) and nobody got sick.

It was the best water I ever drank--percolated through granite bedrock, tasting of the mountain.      :)

Used to drink water from the garden hose. God forbid. Today they'd run a kid to the ER and arrest the parents for child abuse.
