Title: The saga continues
Post by Mark C on Jul 13th, 2007, 12:47pm
We are still moving forward at a good pace.
I am amazed at the social services avaliable and also amazed at the "red tape" necessary.
I have had to deal with the goverment at all levels, local, state and federal (!).
There is no reason for anyone to be homeless or hungry in this country.
I have appllied for and received public housing which I thought was a "project"....no so.....there are many aparment complexs and real estate companies that particapate in the federal vouched program and we should be able to have a "home base"
as soon as the federal funds become avaliable.
Child care is going to start next week and I am in the process of having my CDL class "B" license reinstated. The CDL is the only license I have ever had and drivers are in great demand now. I will do that till I find something more suited to my qualifactions.

I must again say thank you to all who have helped and continue to help us.....this place is truly magic.

We still have a bunch of hurdles to overcome but I feel empowered and with God's help we are going to be fine.

I should be out of the "loop" by years end at the latest.....cool!

We love you guys!!

Mark & The kids!

Very, very good  Mark...and pardon the pun, quite reMarkable!!  God is working for you...that things are coming through in a fairly quick manner.

I worked in Public Health for five years and dealt often with social services, etc.  It took FOREVER for people to get the help they desperately needed.

Im thrilled for you.

I admire your spirit Mark.  Keep up the good outlook and your fortunes will follow.  It sounds like you are already rich in love.  That's more than some start with.

I wouldn't go quite that far but from years of experiance on both sides of the fence I will say this:

If you are willing to do the footwork and do whatever it takes to stabalize you will be amazed at the amount of help that will get offered.

Always red tape but the good professionals know how to expedite.

Not sure about your state but in Massachusetts the is a fairly good stock of private sector housing that will accept housing vouchers.

Wonderful news Mark!  So glad to hear your optimism too!  Big hugs from ours to yours,  your kids are learning from this experience and they will look back someday and appreciate your strength to pick up, work your *ss of, and start from scratch for them, some ppl would just throw up their hands and give up.

Nice going Mark and I'm happy that you're getting a break or two. Keep after 'em. You'll do okay.

In New York State I've discovered that if you pound away with Social Services, you can usually get some help, especially health inusurance or Medicaid. You have to go after it but for the most part, if you make nice, you have a good chance. It's also true that there are a lot of people that can't or don't play the game well. The SS workers that I know have to put up with some very nasty stuff. It's a tough job so they appreciate it when you give them a break too.

Good luck Mark. You're doing fine.

Charlie
