Mr. Floor, go to the Ajusco, you will have plenty of company and it is very cool up there.

I will be for sure checking them out, I will not miss the chance to make so many wishes on a falling star  ;)

I heard about this a couple of weeks ago and already have it marked on my calendar.  My husband and I have decided to make a date out of it and plan on staying up until the wee hours watching the stars.

I'll be back in Jyväskylä by then. 11th is my name day, so with this "show" on 12th, it a late gift... ;;D

Thanks. Hope it isn't raining. I missed it last year and before that, I think. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/astronomer2.gif

I know some day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, in somebody elses life.

Yeah... drunk posting.  So what... lol.
We are getting ready to all head out to a spot between the 6th and 2nd fairways on the golf course to watch the Perseids until the beer runs out.  Music and coolers of beer are on standby.

Clear and lovely here--a sweet night, despite the range fires to the north of us.  I think the smoke is blowing northeast, fortunately.

We've been out in the backyard for about an hour.  Saw a couple of dozen, probably--two good ones.  Headed back out now for an hour or so.

We'd probably see more except for the city lights--not too bad here on the extreme north side of town, but still....

El's got better eyes than I do.  EJ's got terrible night vision--tripped over the lawn chair on the way back in.  Not the beer of course.

Best,

George

got up at 2 and 3 and 5 and saw about 15. It was a little clouded here and too much light but 15 wishes are enough for me  ;;D

For those that missed it because of clouds, there is another one coming September first. This is a very rare even.

aurigid-meteor-shower (http://www.universetoday.com/2007/08/09/aurigid-meteor-shower-september-1/)

It might not even show, or it might be great, but it looks like us in the east will miss out either way.
