Title: Off to the races Post by alienspacebabe on Jul 6th, 2007, 4:01pm Whew! Teresa's so excited she can't eat. She's already on her way to the track - I'll be leaving in a few. When she told me she was going to race, it was 2am when she woke me up, told me, then told me how at the last bandit race someone had flipped over. (but he was okay mom, really). I'll take pics..... Wish her luck!! (and a non-flipped-over car)!!! |

(Not that I heard it - I was busy screaming too) There was a significant "Teresa cheering section" - hopefully it'll be even bigger for her winner's race on August 24th! In her interview on Victory Lane, she asked for a bandit car...... (geez, kids will take advantage of any situation, won't they?) |

She started to slide in one curve and corrected it and saved herself from going out of control. It was so fun to go down into the pits after the race and watch her giving out autographs. She was defintetly on cloud 9. I cant wait to watch her race again. Her trophy is huge!! You go girl!!! |

I'm at work right now, so I won't be able to do it here.... So, from what I've been told, I lapped 5 cars (there were 7 of us), some of them two or three times throughout the race. The second place person was the one I was worried about after practice. She was really good in practice (apparently she has raced karts, so she found a better line than me during practice). I started on the outside of row 2 (so basically in fourth). I'm not sure how many laps it took me to get to the front but it didn't feel like that long. I think I started to get pretty confident when I saw the flag man give me the 5 to go signal (perhaps a little too confident as in one of the next laps I went to fast through turns 3 and 4 and nearly lost the car cuz it got loose). I don't think I've ever screamed as much as I did after coming to the checkered flag. I screamed all the way around the track after that. I was shaking so hard it took me a while to get my belts off and my helmet off and the window net down. But, man, did I scream my head off when I got out! Down in the pits a couple of little girls even asked me to sign their checkered flags. That was pretty cool! Seriously...I still haven't stopped smiling...since crossing that finish line! I've never felt better! And now they are putting me in the "celebrity" championship race on August 24th (that's for all the people who win similar races to mine, like the Faster Pastor races, and they have a DJ race next week, and stuff like that). I woke up this morning wondering if it was all a dream, but then I saw my trophy (which I don't think is as shiny as Jonny's balls, but I've only seen the one that Mom has, and that one's pretty shiny ;) ). Honestly, thank you everyone for you support and encouragement. I wouldn't have been able to win if I didn't believe in myself and I wouldn't have believed in myself if I didn't have all your encouragement. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!! |
