Title: Intentions
Post by George_J on Jul 2nd, 2007, 7:45pm
My daughter, Ellen, and I had some free time today, so we went to lunch together.  Nice experience--El's an interesting conversationalist with an unusual slant on most things, and I thoroughly enjoy her company.

Afterward, she asked if we could stop at the fabric store, and a bead-making shop.

I asked, mildly, if we were "shopping" or "getting".  This elicited some hostility.

I've noticed that other females with whom I'm acquainted also get prickly when this question is asked.  Is it just me?

Best,

George

Men!  Bless their hearts.  There are times when they simply don't "get it".  At times, shopping and getting are one and the same.  Then there are the other times!!!!!  You're expected to know the difference without ever asking!  I have no idea what your problem is ;;D

Yup. Ya don't get it.

The implication of that question: "make it quick"  Doesn't matter whether or not that's what you mean - that's what's heard.

Out of this one.  I'm stumped.

Usually, coming from women, just the bold words apply when I get stuck.

Why doesn't Home Depot have some greeting cards at their checkout line?  Not a big selection, just a box with one style of birthday cards, a box of anniversary cards, and a box of mother's day cards.  The only other thing to do is come out with a new version every year, so she doesn't catch on.  Think of the time it would save all us men!  They could easily sell these a few bucks apiece, just by letting us not shop and decide.

One thing I learned long ago:
Hear, Store in undamaged part of brain but never ever ask.
Blissful ignorance should be the only thing us simple men should be endowed with.

The correct answer to the question is: Yes dear.

Here is a few more answers for you: Yes dear. I'll be right along dear, and last but not least, for you? Yes dear.
Your life should be much better now. Did you get some cool beads?

Oh, I can happily wander around a shop, have a great time and not buy a single thing. It is nearly impossible to know in advance if that "something" you're looking for will be found.

But I must admit that T is pretty good at letting me do my thing - probably, because when HE is looking at things at his fave kind of shops, it takes a lot longer... ;)

I can vouch for that - AND he spends more!!!  ;;D

George - your job is to pay up not to question  ::)

Men huh! Think we'll EVER train 'em right girls?!  ;)
On that note, I hate shopping. It's torture to go with some of my friends as they will tramp round 20 shops and then buy what they saw in the first one. I meanwhil, get blisters and throughly pissed off!!
