Title: I'm off to my high school reunion.... Post by BarbaraD on Jun 30th, 2007, 6:16am We're having our 10th (we voted years ago to have only 10th reunions cause none of us are gonna admit to being over 29) high school reunion today. This should be a fun day. Our class has stayed close over the last 45 (oops, I mean 10) years since graduation. We've had reunions every 5 years unless we found a reason to have one in between. We're known as the class of the prepetual reunion. There were 86 of us and we've lost 25 so we mostly all show up (if you don't show up we go out looking for the ones who don't). Anyhow, it's gonna be fun being 18 for the day. We always feel that way - we'll pay for it tomorrow. ;) But for today, we'll be back to the 50s and 60s again. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: I'm off to my high school reunion.... Post by Paula on Jun 30th, 2007, 6:13pm I am glad you have so much fun. My 30th is this August but I am leaning on not going. The people I really like never have come and don't want to. So I end up sitting with my husband alone. I was never in the in crowd. Must be the orange peel skin, middle age, drinking and smoking that made me not popular, except the fact I am female it all makes sense! Have a wonderful time. Love Paula |

Title: Re: I'm off to my high school reunion.... Post by Brewcrew on Jul 1st, 2007, 9:12am The Wench and I went to our 10th back in '89 (we graduated together from the same school), and we ended up hanging with the handful of people we still see to this day. For just about every one of the other 98%, graduation day was likely the pinnacle of their careers. We haven't been to one since, and I don't feel as though we've missed a thing. Sometimes I envy people who go to their reunions and actually enjoy themselves. |

Title: Re: I'm off to my high school reunion.... Post by BarbaraD on Jul 2nd, 2007, 8:36am Our reunion was great. We had some people show up that we hadn't seen since graduation (and some that left before graduation to go to other schools - we still claim them). Think one guy is going into therapy after talking to me. Haven't seen him since graduation (funny thing - found out he lived a few miles from me in Shreveport - small world). Anyhow, he had polio in the first grade, came back after a couple of years, went thru rehab and ended up playing football in high school - tuff kid. But he was moaning and groaning about not getting laid in high school. He was telling me about dating this particular girl and when I told him if he didn't get laid, it was his own fault = she put out for everyone else. He was shocked so I called a few of the guys over to verify it. He had a few more drinks and really got depressed. Of course we didn't egg it on or anything... He's got five kids - so apparently he finally made it... ;;D Guess after 45 years - most of us just say anything that comes to mind. One guy we were really disappointed in - we figured he'd be head of his cell block - always was ambitious - but he just turned out to be a superintendent of a large school system. He hung his head in shame. Then our old (and I stress the world "old") principal showed up and I flat refused to go to his "office"! All in all it was a really great day. The one thing that was said more than anything all day was, "I love you!" That seems to be something none of us have trouble saying and mean it. When I got home, Caleb was waiting at the door with his hand on his hip, "GRANNY! Where have you been?" I really felt 18 again! Hugs BD |

Title: Re: I'm off to my high school reunion.... Post by Jimi on Jul 2nd, 2007, 10:00am Great story Barb. My 40th reunion is July 14th (next week). Date sound familiar? I was torn on whether to go to the OUCH convention or my reunion. The only one we had ever had was the 25th and we had a great time. Plus I didn't know if we will ever have another one. So guess where I will be on the 14th. Richmond!!!!! Hello.....no brainer after all. LOL |

Title: Re: I'm off to my high school reunion.... Post by sandie99 on Jul 2nd, 2007, 12:15pm I'm glad that you had great time, Barb! :) I think it's wonderful that you and your classmates have remain in such great terms. I haven't felt that way about my classmates; the closest I came to that with some of the folks I went to high school with, but back them they changed the curriculum so much that I pretty much had different people in the classroom with me with every class. Not much of "class/team spirit" there. It hasn't been that many years since I graduated, but I know that there has been already one reunion. I didn't go, though. That school was my junior high and I have lots of bad memories from my days in there, so I'm not in any hurry to meet any of those classmates again. Besides, that my age most people are at university or at their first job, not that much has happened really. 20 years from now people would actually have a lot more interesting stories to tell. :) Sanna |
