Title: Re: What else is coming from China?? Post by Buzz on Jun 28th, 2007, 11:55am Nah! Why on earth would China try to kill off its most lucrative market? Throughout the world, some factories produce, for whatever reason - be it by accident or by deviance in one of its employees, tainted products. And on that basis they sink or swim. China, like any exporter, would far rather export good stuff and build goodwill, growing their markets. |

Title: Re: What else is coming from China?? Post by fubar on Jun 28th, 2007, 1:35pm Gotta agree with Buzz... who profits if people lose confidence in Chinese goods? Not China. Makes you wonder who is really responsible for this rash of bad Chinese goods. |

Title: Re: What else is coming from China?? Post by Buzz on Jun 28th, 2007, 2:47pm Many Western countries now have their manufacturing done in China. The bigger the brand, the more likely that there is stricter adherence to quality control, often because the companies that own the brands own the factories in China. Other brands sub-contract to existing Chinese companies and although they have 'control' of the manufacturing processs, it could be unlikely that they have the same amount of control they would get if they owned the factory...I'm guessing. And to put things in perspective, there have been many cases of 'tainted' American manufactured goods being sold to Americans (ditto Europeans etc); it is inevitable that these issues will arise for countless different reasons. |

Title: Re: What else is coming from China?? Post by LeLimey on Jun 28th, 2007, 3:24pm When my friend Lisa and I were younger we used to go to markets and buy a load of rubbish - cheap clothes, cheap jewellery - you name it we bought it! When we used to go back to her house to parade our "finery (which was already turning our necks green!) her mum used to roll her eyes and say "More shit from China" in a deadpan voice. It used to crack us up and its become our catchphrase now about any old tat we can use it for but sadly - its true! :-/ |

Title: Re: What else is coming from China?? Post by Buzz on Jun 29th, 2007, 4:07am Quite simply, China is the world's factory. The reason is simple: we want cheap goods and china can supply them, thanks to their extremely low pay - and their massive workforce. |

Title: Re: What else is coming from China?? Post by Charlie on Jul 10th, 2007, 2:00pm Just about everything except for my remote that was made in Malasia. It will continue for a long time. It isn't because manufacturers can have all the hard stuff done over there by an uncomplaining work force so that when products get over here, they are unloaded, repackaged, and sold by lower paid unorganized workers with no pensions, and no medical benefits....Nah...
