Title: Canada Day Short Weekend!
Post by barry_sword on Jun 27th, 2007, 7:39am
Let's see, I work all day Fri., 1/2 day Sat., off Sun. ,work all day Mon. That doesn't seem like a long weekend to me.

Angie works all day Fri. Sat. Sun. and of course all day Mon. We both work retail( :P) so this is how we celebrate Canada's birthday. We do things a little different here sometimes.

We are called cottage country and rely on tourism but I sell auto parts and all my customers are closed so we will be very slow.

Just wanted to vent a little and I guess things could be worse. Gotta think positive.

Makes me want to pull out my "Stompin Tom" tape and turn it up loud,
"C-A-N-A-D-A".

Barry, I've got people up there. My family has some roots around Midland and Penetang, and, of course, down through Toronto. Would love to be up in Cottage Country right now. Maybe some Fish & Chips at the town dock in Penetang.

Best Regards,

Scott

Thanks Carol, should be a fun Weekend. July 1st is the day that Catherine O'Hara comes to our store and shops for her cottage also Martin Short picks up supplies for his cottage and of course we all get to see Darcy Tucker from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Scott we are not far from Penetang and Midland. About 1 hour south west of us. I love living in cottage country its great. If you make it up this way let us know and we will have a meet maybe with Carol as well.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Angie
:)

I work retail too.  I understand what you are saying.  Sad but true I kinda dread the holidays.  Espcially Christmas.  It is so stressful and busy and a lot of the people shopping are grumpy:(

On the upside, as long as a person is flexible it works fine.  I have most Birthdays and hoildays a few days to a week later.  stretches it out that way;)

Happy Canada Day!

My Dad's entire family was Canadian, so that makes me half Canadian.

I'll wish myself a Happy CAN day!

Here is a good one. Angie is human resource officer at her work and found out what they are doing with us at my work is illegal. We are mainly a wholesale business so we must have the Monday off. As where Angie works because of tourism they can stay open all weekend. [smiley=huh.gif]

So looks like my "long weekend" got a little longer. :)

Now to get Angie to phone in sick! :o I'm bad!!! [smiley=laugh.gif]

Good to see some more Canadian roots here on the board.
Happy Canada Day everyone.

I'm flying home tomorrow a.m. - it's my Mom's b'day on the 28th and I am staying for Canada day, flying out late in the evening on the Monday.

I miss being able to celebrate Canada Day and the 4th of July - when we lived in upstate NY it was great because we got to enjoy both holidays.

Mom told me I had to make sure I brought red and white to wear LOL.  It's going to be great to spend time with my family again.  I hate being so far away.

Wishing everyone a very happy Canada Day, and remember, NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE.

Cat

We share a several days together too, both sides of the river celebrate our longstanding friendship with a Freedom Festival for the U.S. and Canada.  The fireworks display is one the largest .

Hope you have a great time....

Fireworks on both sides of the river...sounds neat. Never was able to see it though.

Happy Canada Day kids.

Well here it is July 01, Canada Day! Angie is off to Algonquin Park to volunteer for the "Run For Canada" to raise money for the Special Olympics. It is about an 1 hr. drive from our house. She is doing the registration part.
Here she is at 6:00am getting ready to go.

I'm just having a java and hanging around CH.com for a little while this morning. I have found something that has kept me amused.
