Title: leaving for the convention.
Post by Linda_Howell on Jun 26th, 2007, 10:56pm

I borrowed a 21 foot motorhome from my son and I am leaving on Thursday for the convention.

I plan to put eleventy-thousand miles on his odometer in the next month, since I won't be back til the end of July.

21 foot motorhome is a tad small so I may drop Jim off at the Grand Canyon or the Mississippi River which-ever nerve  he gets on first.    jk

I have already seen most of every state til I get to Nebraska...after that I plan to see all the sights I have always dreamed of.:

The arches in St. Louis,  Jim and Ruthies house, lol...anything in Kentucky that sounds like Daniel Boone territory with a couple of side trips to a real "still"  a lot of museums and a lot of places to camp by a river like the Missouri, the Mississippi, I want to see a covered bridge...the Alleganny Mts. and the Shennandoah valley..some civil war battlefields and the DC. area.

I plan on talking to George while I'm there so anyone who wants anything said...now is the time.   lol

The Viet Nam wall, the Smithsonian...Lincoln Memorial...oh yeah and of course the convention in Richmond.   ;;D

See you all there and for you Tanner....please know I will call you when I am there and everyone can say hi on my cell phone.

Linda

If you got a freaking motor home, you better damn well steer to WI for the July 20th meet and greet in Point here dear.  The Empty suits and I (I being the minutive ) would be heartbroken if you didn't.

Ok off to bed for me, I'm past pumpkin time.

(just saying I =minutive means that my one broken heart is not sufficient to the many broken hearts.)

Oh How I wish I could Pegg...I'm taking the Southern route coming back.

  Modified to add:

I asked Jonny a while back to make me a "shiney" for the convention auction..and he did.  He sent it  to me and I will place it on my dashboard as we travel, kinda like the roaming gnome.

it's a small one but it's beautiful.   The bidding starts at..?

The World War II Memorial is on our "must see" list in DC, Linda.

My dad didn't make it out to see his memorial so we'll honor him there during convention week.

And the most important part of the trip will be that your first Culvers can be had in either Colorado Springs, Boulder or Denver . . .

After that there should be one in almost every state until you get out of Ohio!!

Linda - If you and Jim can be flexible in your return trip and make it to Party in the Park on July 20 in Stevens Point (northern swing vs. southern swing), you'll find that just about every community in Wisconsin has a Culvers. ;;D

As Tom Bodett  would say "We'll leave the light on."
Be safe and hope to see you soon Linda.

Not exactly sure Kimmie...but I plan on seeing JDH for coffee or lunch when I get there.  I've got his number so I'll call him when I'm almost there.  It would be great if we all could get together... at Culvers maybe.  jk  ;;D

Linda sweetie, as I told you on the phone I really wanted to visit the wall with you but :'(

If you and Jim find the time could you maybe walk down to the Apex and on your left look for Panel 02 west, line 129?

There you will find...............................................................

CWO Douglas L. O'Neill, Bayonne, NJ
CWO Larry A. Zich, Lincoln, NE
SFC Allen D. Christensen, Flandreau, SD
SSG Edward W. Williams, Clearwater, FL

Misters Zich and O"Neill were my pilots and two of my best friends. Chris and Williams were the crewchief and doorgunner that took our spots when my Crewchief and I rotated home the day before the incident.

If you could get some nice tourist to take a pic of you and Jim standing near that spot I would cherish it forever.

cryin like a baby.....Tim

Only one?

I've got one less than a mile from my house.  No, of course I don't walk there - busy street with  no sidewalks.

Heck, 15 minutes in any direction will get me to one LOL

If you pass the Gateway Arch, wave to me.  I'd try to meet up, but if I can't walk it, I usually don't make it.

Peace & hugs,

I've taken along Jim's laptop,so I can check in.

Right now I'm in Denver,Co...

There is only 3 good things about Nevada:

75 mph speed limit, no traffic, and BobG lives there.  Talk about white-line fever.  Utah is also behind me thank goodness.  That state gave me the creeps..really.

But We've just gone through some of the most beautiful parts of the Rockies and right next to us all the way today was the Colorado River.  Gorgeous.

Thank God for Wal-Mart parking lots...every RV place is booked solid.  We're gonna stay in a Motel tonight, cause I need to take a bubble bath.  lol

JDH and Miswest Beth contacted me so we're going to try to get together when we get to St. Louis.

So, I will be checking back but I'd sure like to know wtf that other thread is all about up above with my name on it.  I couldn't make heads or tails of that.  ::)

Linda...not Jim like the profile says

I know what you mean.  Ellen calls Utah, "Mordor".

Enjoy your trip--but it sounds as if you already are.

:)

Off the track,

Well,   I've made it to Missouri and MAN...is this a beautiful state.   While everything in Calif. right now is dry and brown,  there is nothing but green rolling hills and what looks suspiciously like KUDZU growing all over every tree, fence and telephone pole.   I haven't seen anything but well manicured lawns with huge lots and flowers, everywhere.

I walked all around  a civil war battle site, went wading in the Missouri river and had my first Culvers, Brew.  ;;D

Meeting Midwest Beth and JDH tommorrow for lunch in St. Louis and then I'm going to climb the Arch...wave to CarlD, throw Jim in the Mississippi and it's on to Kentucky, and Jimi and Ruthi's.

I hope you get to see America in all her glory. But be aware, there is a guy in Lawrence Kansas who looks like he is staring at two different places at the same time and it will take at least 10 minutes for him to quit laughing like BUTT HEADHEAD before he takes your order. I advise to push on to a bigger city for a burger.

Love ya blondy! have a great trip!

We were lucky enough to catch the Midwest leg of the Jim  and Linda North American Tour today. Just got back from lunch with Linda Jim AND finally got to meet Beth who is practically our neighbor. As always it was great meeting with people from here. Hope you guys missed the storm and be safe the rest of the way.
Hopefully Linda or Beth has some better pics because here's what I got.
