Title: 194
Post by cynjeep89 on Jun 23rd, 2007, 9:25am
194 is the new number of homicides just this year in Philadelphia, Pa as of this morning which is the 173rd day of the year.

13 of these were from last week and 6 of these happened on Thursday.

One of the last people killed was a young mother who confronted drug dealers on her block.

Sad, just sad :'(

Add another one to the total....up to 195 now.

Yes, Barry the numbers are staggering and heartbreaking.  I was born in Philly, and even though my family moved to Delaware when I was 4 years old, I have good memories of my old neighborhood.  We always felt safe, could play outside, and our neighbors were all like family.

I drove by my old neighborhood a few years ago and was bummed by the change....trash everywhere, broken down cars littered the streets, strip clubs on almost every corner, rundown houses, gangs of school aged kids roaming the streets during school hours...the place looked like a war zone.

We see the aftermath of some of these shootings at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where I work and unfortunately these victims are children who are either caught in the crossfire/innocent bystanders or are involved in the actual shootings.

The solution to this problem?  I just don't know.

Incredible.  That's hard to believe. Something's gotta give......

That's probably 10 times as many since my town's founding in 1810.

I guess I'll stay in my small upstate burg until I get so rich, I can afford to live in Trump Tower.
