Title: chronic to episonic ?? Post by Lenny on Jun 18th, 2007, 6:25pm I was chronic till this past november ( now i am in re-mission) hopefully i will become episodic. Are there others out there?? If so,did you return back to chronic or episodic?? I have a dr. that i can ask this question but i rather ask it from clusterheades who have been thru this, besides i never call him unless i am going thru hell with this wonderful disorder. I had a real bad dream that i went back to chronic and in the dream my life was pure hell, nothing was helping me. (preventative, aborting) Hope everyone out there are doing well PFDAN's to all. Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by Jonny on Jun 18th, 2007, 7:36pm I was chronic for 31 years and one day they just went away, I was PF for 14 months and they came back for a few weeks......then they went away again. This is so fucked up after being chronic for so long, at least then I did not fear the return of the beast because I knew he would always come for me. Enjoy the PF time is my advice to you, bro! |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by chewy on Jun 18th, 2007, 7:48pm I guess there benefits of being chronic as opposed to episodic. You always know the beast is right there in your face ready to gnaw at your brains. Being episodic you just dont always know what shadows he's hiding in until he sucker punches you. But either way you get used to it. You have to train. Always be vigilant, always stay armed, and get on with your life. |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by Ray on Jun 18th, 2007, 11:54pm Lenny: I was chronic from the first hit for the first 15 years. There were seasons that were relatively worse and relatively less worse, if you can follow. For the past 5 years, I've been episodic. Hard to tell when they would begin or stop, with some breakthrough hits during the low time (just when you thought it was safe to leave the house without the Imitrex). Also some days off during the high season. Up 3 times during the night one night, then pain free for a day or two. In a way, it was better when it was chronic, I always knew the beast would be after me soon, whereas now, I never really know -- almost more anxiety now. Just different seasons of the beast, both suck, just slightly differently. I determined years ago to NEVER let the beast win. He may have me in a corner for a period of time, but I ALWAYS win. I may wear a few scars from the battle, but I wear them as badges of honor. Never surrender! Climbing off my rambling soap box now, Ray |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by MR_FLOOR on Jun 19th, 2007, 1:33am I've been chronic since the beginning I'm 42 now and they started when I was 14.I had Histamine desensitization twice the first time it worked for 8 LONG years the second time it worked for 2 those where the only pain free times.Through those times I got about 1 to 2 CHs per month(I call that pain free) about kip 4 or 5s no higher.I just don't see how you guys could say that it could possibly be better being chronic.Maybe it's cause I've never been episodic. But just from what I think I would like to give being episodic a shot.Just my 2 cents . Good luck Lenny. Dave |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by ClusterChuck on Jun 19th, 2007, 2:10am I am another chronic, that started as episodic. As much as these suck, I like not having to worry, as I used to, of when the beast would show up again. THAT terror SUCKED!!! Being chronic, you learn to adjust, and continue on with your life, despite the beast. You KNOW that you are going to be hit, EVERY day, SEVERAL times a day! These things CAN be lived with! It sucks having to do it, but I REFUSE to let the beast win! Episodics have it tougher, in my mind. Chuck |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by George_J on Jun 19th, 2007, 3:00am I'm a clockwork episodic, and have always been episodic and a lefty since the beginning. Since 1966. Never switched sides, never surprised me with a nasty unsuspected gift, never came unexpectedly. The downside was--it's coming, I know it, and there's nothing to be done. It's like a doom. Therefore, I can't say whether it's easier to be chronic or episodic--with only my own experience to go on, though, I'll have to say that it purely sucks either way. Anyone who's battled these in any way, shape or form is a warrior, a survivor, and a mensch in my book. Best to you, and I hope (if you're now an episodic) that it makes your life a bit easier. When you're episodic, there is some measure of peace for a time, and a reminder, at least, what it is like to be a "normal". George |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by Mosaicwench on Jun 19th, 2007, 7:41am Brew has been chronic several times over the beast's 16 year visit, but he's also been episodic during that time frame. Right now the beast is being merciful and we're being grateful. |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by Brewcrew on Jun 19th, 2007, 1:43pm Has this turned into one of those "grass is greener" threads? Phooey. It sucks for both. Having had two chronic episodes of about 18 months each and spending the other 13 years as episodic, it is my humble opinion that both suck. Given the choice, however, I would pick episodic. Because you're right, Dave, PF time is to be cherished. The more, the better. Even PF time in between hits for those who are chronic. Again, just my humble opinion. |

I read it as just that opposite of that. Only a clusterhead, suffering the worst pain known to man, would point to another clusterhead and say "but your pain is worse than mine, what can I do to help". Only amongst clusterheads will you find that. |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by john_d on Jun 20th, 2007, 7:14am I know that it was not until the end of my last cycle that I finally figured out how to live with it and developed a routine for dealing with it. Still, would prefer not to be chronic, knock on wood. |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by michael on Jun 20th, 2007, 11:47am Dont know how you guys deal with being chronic. You have my total respect. The only thing that really gets me through a cycle is knowing that it will eventually end Mike |

Title: Re: chronic to episonic ?? Post by Lenny on Jun 20th, 2007, 12:26pm Allow me to clarify this,i am not sitting here shitting in my pants and waiting to find out of what will happen. I just happened to have a real nasty dream a few nights ago ( NIGHTMARE ). What ever happens will happen and all i can do is just go with the flow. As far as my wish list goes ;;D,i would like to become episodic, atleast i know i will get the wonderful break that i am enjoying right now and hope each and every chronic clusterheade will get very soon, PFDAN to all. |
