Title: and they're off! Post by JenniferD on Jun 18th, 2007, 12:22pm Hannah and Harry, along with their youth group, planned to go to Eleuthera Bahamas on a mission trip (2nd time going for Hannah) Han put a sign up at her job at a coffee house explaining the trip and requesting donations. She got enough donations to completely pay for her trip. She got enough donations to completely pay for Harry's trip. She got enough donations to help pay off another kid's trip. Hannah in her usual procrastinating way, waited till no time left to get her passport. It arrived 2 weeks ago. Harry's didn't. As luck would have it, the dept of state announced a temporary break to those who have proof of applying and are going to Canada, the Carribean, Mexico, etc. So online we went only to find that Harry's passport was already en route somewhere in Jersey and the needed "proof" was no longer available- we'd just have to wait and see if it arrived in time. He went to Hannah's job, explaining the situation, and a guy there pipes up, "oh, I'm good friends with the guy at the courthouse. He can get you what you need in 24 hours. Twenty minutes later, Har was back at Java Jacks, "proof" in hand and able to board the plane. Harry's friend Brandon wasn't so lucky. Harry took him to the same guy who found out there was NO RECORD of Brandon's application. This was Friday afternoon. After a couple of hours and Brandon locating his receipts of payment, the guy who talked with Harry got a notarized document showing he did indeed apply for his passport. They all boarded the plane this morning and I am now waiting for word that they have safely landed in Nassau. A sad note: the woman who is the youth leader, Dana, had many of the kids spend the night at her house last night b/c they had to be at Richmond airport around 4 am. Dana got a call around 10 pm that her mother had passed away. Please offer up vibes for Dana and her son Spencer. Charlotte came home last monday NOT at all well and I'd spent 2 days second guessing myself whether I'd made the right decision on her behalf. The dog I came home to Tuesday afternoon was NOT the same dog I'd left- you shoulda seen Miss Thang! Tail a-waggin', bossing Zoey around and generally acting like "I'm the shit!". Stitches are still in yet she is rolling and frolicking and JUMPING off the bottom step to the sidewalk! Am I the only person who can hurt herself putting on a shoe???? Yep, my back locked up bad on Saturday (it had hurt all week) and by 5:30 Sunday morning we were on our way to the emergency room. Dr. said "something something lumbar something" which translates to: don't try and explain anything to me after a shot of Demerol and 2 muscle relaxants". I'm laid up for a couple of days but hey, I get outta washing dishes, right? The meds have worn off a wee bit so I thought I'd post while coherent. Unfortunately, with coherency comes PAIN, so I'm about to dose up again. Just thought I'd keep ya posted on the goings-on in the ol' Donald household. Hugs and pf wishes to all! Jen |

Title: Re: and they're off! Post by JenniferD on Jun 18th, 2007, 6:08pm Charlotte is doing fantastic Helen! She lays in the grass rolling around on her back, kicking her back legs up and out and the stitches haven't come out yet. Hannah and Harry arrived safely and I'm sure they'll have an incredible time. Last year Hannah took this trip and it was a life changing experience for her and from what we heard, for some of the kids they worked with while there. And I am shocked that you'd even ASK me if I do anything half-way! If I'm gonna do it-even injury- its full throttle and wide open baby! LOL Can't wait to see you in ONE MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!! |
