Title: She is home... Post by Paul98 on Jun 7th, 2007, 11:50am Just wanted to let folks know that Helen is back home. She is in better spirits but is still undr the weather. She said to say that if you PM her she probably will not be able to PM you back (this goes for phone calls as well) because she is still so tired and staying at the keyboard is very draining for her. (yacking on the phone is as well) It will be a few days before she will be able to get to the board and I'll keep folks posted in the meantime. -P. |

Title: Re: She is home... Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Jun 7th, 2007, 3:16pm Helen - stay away from the computer (which means you ought not to be reading this! ;;D). Do exactly as you're told - get well - and gain back some of those pounds you've lost during your illness. Glad to hear you've been released from the hospital - just don't try to jump right back into things. Hugs Carol |

Title: Re: She is home... Post by catlind on Jun 7th, 2007, 5:21pm Now it's time to converge on Helen and make sure she does as she is told ;) Ok, if you read this that's one thing but you best not be sitting at that computer any longer than 5 min. Your sole responsibility is to get yourself back to 100% - that means no one and nothing should be on your mind except resting and recuperating! I'll give you a day to get settled but then I'll be checkin in and getting out the 2x4 to make sure you are doing nothing but getting well. Cat |

Title: Re: She is home... Post by LeLimey on Jun 8th, 2007, 1:28pm Hello you lot! I'm back as you can see and I'm actually starting to feel better now that some of those 28 litres of IV fluids are shifting - that bloody HURTS! The problem is my stomach is very damaged from both all the antibiotics I've had (necessary) and the vomiting which means I can't absorb anything so basically its malnutrition even though I AM eating and taking copious amounts of meds. Unfortunately every time things have started to pick up I've got some bloody virus crap and knocked myself back to square one. I had a bug just before Paul came over and I knew then I'd be back in hospital because I was quite rough while he was here (as you probably saw from the pics) Sadly it took them until it got to life threatening to take me back in which was farcical I wouldn't have minded so much if the bloody coppers had even been gorgeous *sigh* (sorry Paul! the girls here need updates though y'know and it IS friday! ;;D ) I went in this time prepared to stay but after being given the wrong meds twice and stopping them putting up an IV bag with someone else's name on it even the consultant agreed I'd be better off at home. It was a ward I've never been on before and they were just plain awful. I haven't been able to eat potatoes or bananas without throwing up for weeks (and I do try as I love both) so they decided I was anorexic and tried to force feed me. This was in ste of me eating everything else in sight too! Today I'm actually feeling really good, I'm resting up alot still as I'm still suffering with a lot of fluid retention which is painful but today is the first day I've felt "alive" again and full of energy and it feels FANTASTIC! I'm definitely coming to Richmond, I miss you lot something rotten and I can't wait to see you again or as many of you as bloody well possible at any rate! Right - update over so lets start some fun okay?! ;) |

Hello to you a lot, too. :) You sound gooder! Quote:
Fool your tummy with yummy. Sweet Potato Wears Banana Pants (suits you) ;) Fluffy Mashed Sweet Potatoes 2 cups cooked and mashed sweet potatoes 3 bananas, mashed 1 ½ cups soymilk or milk ½ cup prune, apple, or orange juice 3 tablespoons honey 1 teaspoon allspice Topping: 2 teaspoons candied ginger OR 1 tablespoon brown sugar ¼ teaspoon ginger Preheat the oven to 375. Oil a casserole dish. To cook the potatoes, peel them, cube them, and boil until soft. Drain and mash. For the bananas, choose overripe candidates that have seen better days of yellow. They will be rich in flavor, easily mashed. Plain soymilk is suitable, but vanilla is daring. Try it. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except the ginger and brown sugar. Beat until fluffy. Spoon the mixture into the casserole and bake until golden brown, about 50-60 minutes. Sprinkle with candied ginger, or a mixture of brown sugar and ginger. Serves six. |
