Few things incite my greed, but these are one of them.

Got about a pound that we'll cook up and gorge on this evening with rib steaks and fresh-picked asparagus.

Lots of different ways to prepare them. One of the best and simplest is simply to slice them in half lengthwise, let them soak in salty water for a couple of hours, and sautee them in butter. They're anywhere between the size of a thumb to the size of a hand. There is an all-too-brief season for them here--just after snowmelt in recently burned-off forest land. The flavor is indescribable and unlike anything else, really. But delicious.

Dust those puppies in a little flour, seasoned with salt and pepper ONLY. Then fry in butter.

Sheesh, another woman worring about size ;)

I like mushrooms lightly fried in REAL butter. They are best mixed with Americian (real Native Americian) wild rice.

Great coincidence -- I just made my homemade mushroom soup tonight. About five different types of mushrooms, a ton of onions and beef broth. Supposed to rain tomorrow all day so I'm thinking mushroom soup, red wine, some cheese. A good day.

I have 60 acres where I could pick these things, unfortunately I wouldn't know the difference between the edible ones or the ones that help CH [smiley=huh.gif]

Maybe I should google "Mushrooms"
