Title: e=mc2
Post by Turts on May 24th, 2007, 12:35am
You know what i hate about these damn CH's.

E doesnt =mc2

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

the opposing reaction in CH is swelling of the vein and the pinching of the nerves etc, but what started them in the first place.

WHAT STARTS THIS BALL ROLLING?!

these Clusters just occur, exist. they have no purpose.

its NOT like a cancer or a cold that is trying to take over the body. at least those condition are understandable. there is reasoning for such intense pain for no benefit to either party!

sorry for the rant

Dear Turts:

I understand the rant!  My unresearched, unqualified (other than being a sufferer for 20 years), guess?

For some, unknown reason, the body is neurologically stimulated to produce histamine in large amounts.  This causes the arteries through capillaries to over dialate.  These blood vessels containing pain sensing nociceptors are triggered to respond with a pain signal, rather than a signal to constrict back to normal.  The histamine also causes the reddening of the eye, tearing and runny/stuffy nose.  It also stimulates additional digestive juices to flow, sometimes causing me nausea.

Are we genetically predisposed to get them?  Research seems to say no.  [BTW: my sister gets CH]  The hypothalmus may be involved, that makes sense with the whole rhythm of the cycles, but is that the spark that sets this whole process off?

I say more research, then hopefully a cure.  In the meanwhile...

Know the beast
Know your tools
Know your supporters
Know where you can go to dance with the beast
Know that you will make it through another one
Know you've done it so many times before and...
If necessary, you'll make it through the next one too.

My heart goes out to all of you.  Some have it worse than me, some maybe not as bad.  The beast is cruel and evil and we have to beat him one moment at a time and live!

Climbing off of my soap box now, anyone else want a turn?

Wishing you PF days and nights,

Ray

this is the part that gets to me most?

i know and understand the rest, that is the reaction.

if i knew that there was a fuller reason as to why i must suffer then it would make it all the more easier to deal with.

CH is a    "Just Because' condition and that frustrates me!!!

modified that says thanks for the anatomical reason, i guess im talkin more metaphorically

I sort of hate myself that I think like this:

It would be easier, if not all that nice, if medical types and others could experience 30 seconds of this horror so they "get" us.

Charlie - You're nicer than me... I sometimes wish my GP could have about a kip 8 for an hour http://bestsmileys.com/fainting/1.gif.... and or course never have another

No, Ray, you're doing just fine for a lot of us and good onya.

Turts, maaaaate, just stick in the saddle and ride the mongrel into the ground. It's the only way and we both know it.  As to E equalling mc squared, just bear in mind that CH is to life what WorkChoices was to our pay packets and I personally blame John for both!

I don't think you're evil.  If you are, then I'm the devil incarnate.

There are people who I wish could experience several attacks K8 or above.  One totally unmedicated 3 hour attack, one where they are allowed only OTC pain relievers, one aborted with O2 and one aborted with trex.

Maybe if the people who make medication limits and denials in insurance companies were to experience the difference between a full blown head banger with no relief and another with abortives, they might see how important these meds are to us and actually approve more.  They could also be a powerful ally in getting the costs of prescription drugs more down to earth.

It's simple really:  genetic selection for head butting...damn ineffective against a gun...but any CH'r should be able to take down a Rhino with one good slam.  ;)
