Title: BlueJay Enjoying The Sun Post by barry_sword on May 20th, 2007, 10:17am I thought this was a cool pic. Yesterday it was sunny and quite warm when a BlueJay landed beside me on the deck. At first I thought he had hit the house and was paralized but my buddy said no that the bird is sunning himself. He spread all his feathers open to catch a few rays. I have never seen this before so thought I would share the pics with you guys. He stayed for about 10 mins. then flew away. :) What a beautiful bird. http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7db01b3127cce84929b8852f800000026101AZtGrZu5asU http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7db01b3127cce84929877129e00000026101AZtGrZu5asU http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7db01b3127cce84929875129c00000026101AZtGrZu5asU I hope you like them, Barry Note to self: Deck needs staining! Title: Re: BlueJay Enjoying The Sun Post by cynjeep89 on May 20th, 2007, 1:53pm Wish the wildlife in my backyard was as calm as yours is, Barry. I looked out back the other morning only to witness a bird version of WWF....a robin, blue jay and finch were tumbling all over my back steps fighting like heck...just one mass of feathers and noise. Once I broke up the fight, I found three finches pulling the Spanish moss out of my hanging plant baskets. Also have a nest of baby squirrels, suicidal rabbits that sit in the street and challenge you to a game of "chicken" and a red fox that sits in my driveway in the mornings long enough to stir my dogs into a frenzy. Ah, wildlife....such a wonderful thing [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: BlueJay Enjoying The Sun Post by Angie on May 20th, 2007, 5:54pm I never saw these pics till now, this Bluejay and I have an understanding. Since I still smoke, I step out on the deck and this Bluejay has kept me company all winter because I feed him peanuts. Barry does not know this Bluejay is my friend, he was probably posing for a peanut and wondered why he did not get fed. [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] Angie |

Cyn, wildlife is never boring, sounds like you have all out war in your yard. [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] I have black squirrels and chipmunks that get peanuts also. Sounds like your birds are having territorial issues. Angie |

Yes but... I heard they love when you slather yourself with peanut butter and hold a couple porterhouse steaks under each arm. Be sure to have the camera ready for that meeting. You or your survivors could make a fortune on America's Funniest Videos. ........by the way... I love the BlueJay pic! with warm regards, Tony |

Barry, I would suggest you let the cougar know that you are working really hard to fatten up the squirrels, coyotes and woodpeckers .... with peanuts and that since they are fed chemical free diet, unlike yourself, they would taste a lot better and be more healthy ..... ;) ;;D |
