Title: New Orleans has new set of Problems...
Post by BarbaraD on May 19th, 2007, 9:43am
On the news this morning....

New Orleans has Wild Boars in their parks. Having to call boar hunters in to get them out. After Katrina they came into the city and have taken up residence in the parks.

This is just what they needed. something else to worry about......

Oh they're just trapping them and putting them "back in the wild" outside of town so they can come back in when they please. After all they're for "hunting" don't cha know..... :-/

We were cutting a tract of timber out in McCloud in a hardwood bottom, I was always there at first light to get as much done before the heat set in. One morning I was the first on the job site and walked about a quarter mile from the set to get to where the logs were felled. I sat down on a stump and was filing my saw when 10 to 12, one  month old striped piglets came running around me from behind. Have to admit I ran like a bitch, leaving my saw and jugs behind.

We used to hog hunt alot, we'd chase them with black and tans, a pig will run until it tires, then it'll find some thick brush to put it's back to, turn and fight. Thats when we'd call off the hounds and release the pits, then the fight was on. The pits would wear them down until they just laid down, we'd cuff them and carry them out of the woods on a pole and sell them to the Busy Bee Ranch between Linden and Jefferson. They released them snd sold guided hunts. Great fun.

Barb did you ever get your boar problem sorted out?

Haven't heard them lately -- now we got coyotes and panthers... Lost my little daushund this week. Think a coyote got him. Been really upset about that. Homer and Rudy are sleeping in the house at night right now.

All the neighbors are complaining (and shooting a lot at night). These darn critters are getting some cows and that's not a good thing.

But can you imagine hogs just walking down the streets of New Orleans. That would be a great tourist attraction  :-/ . I can just imagine me coming out of a place on Burbon street after a few hurricaines and running into one. Probably wouldn't know what hit me till morning.... :)
