Post by crftymom on May 12th, 2007, 8:40pm
I am happy to say that my hubby, Dawson's daddy is finally signed onto the board.  Welcome honey! (usnavybm)

But beware, he can get pretty lippy.  So please don't be afraid to tell him like it is.   ;)

I love you!

Welcome aboard

I've been riding without training wheels now too.  Scraped a knee, hit a tree and some picker bushes but caught the ice cream truck.  Ready to go 'round the block too, as soon as Jonny lets go of my handlebars.  ;)

Welcome.

Not a swabbie myself, but my brother was in for 23 years.

Hey, if you're lippy, you'll probably fit in here just fine.   ;)

Thanks for giving him the goad, Margo.

Best wishes,

George

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  Warmth is definately something needed around here since I am currently deployed to an island in Alaska.  Such a beautiful place however, unless you like constant rain, just above freezing and 50 knot winds, it's not a weather resort.  8)

As far as being a swabbie, funny thing is...I still haven't found one that fits my hands.  I guess they don't make them in my size.  No comments Margo... [smiley=laugh.gif]

And finally, as far as being lippy...never.  My wife is just over exaggerating.  Love ya hun...  ;;D

Jeff,

I really hope that you haven't forgot the Navy rules already.  I may have been the one that rode the short bus, but you were the window licker in the front of the same bus.

Hey Annette,

From what I understand, there is't even a boat to float anymore....(sorry chewy)

Ya know that the funny thing is, we can do it all from out at sea without getting shot at.  You all just haven't figured that out yet and that's why we still let you play in the sand box.  Now, quit taking hollywood showers and using up all our water...don't you have a gun to clean for the 5th time today??? :P

Wow ! Didnt know there is an island named after myself !  8) , yeah right ! Dream on!  LOL ! I wonder how the island got its name?

What is it like living on an island in Alaska? What does your day consist of?

I lived in war-torn Vietnam for many years but after moving to New Zealand and then Australia 25 years ago, I am so far removed from any war talk that a soldiers life is now a fascinating mystery to me.

Post by usnavybm on May 13th, 2007, 6:30pm
The island is awsome as far as the mountains, all the bald eagles, there has been reports of wolfs although only one person has seen it less than half a mile from our camp.

The weather is getting better, however anything is better that the usual 50 knot winds, constant rain and barely over freezing most of the time.  Definately not weather like I remember from when I was in Austrailia.

Well Jonny, that's a subject that you probably don't have the time to get me started on.  This is what I will say...I do as I am told, we are too deep to leave now, but it needed to be done.  We missed the opportunity in 1991.  Then from here, this goes into many different spectrums and places that I stand firm on.

Overall, I am a strong supporter of what I am told to do, and where I am told to go.  That is what I swore to do, not to play politics!  I love serving this great country of ours and the freedom that we all deserve.  It's not a question of cut and run or stay the course....it's a question on if you believe in this country, don't you think?
