Ok, I guess I better explain where I have been. LOL !!!

Well, it all started last Friday morning, at around 3 AM. My ex and I drove up to Washington DC to meet with my son, my older sister and her husband, and my father, who had never seen the WWII and Korean war monuments (Dad was active in both).

On the way, we stopped in and woke up Batch and his lovely wife. They are a charming and delightful couple! Batch made us freshly roasted coffee, and a WONDERFUL breakfast. Batch is an AWESOME person! (Sorry, none of us thought to bring out a camera.)

We met my family in DC, and had a GREAT day! We then went up to my son's house, in Maryland, and spent the rest of the weekend there. While there, we went to downtown Annapolis, to sightsee. They had a boat show on the water. One of the boats I fell in love with, was this beauty built in 1924:

Another one, that my grandson and I loved was this 48 foot catamaran. What a GORGEOUS world cruiser! This was TOTALLY decked out! Would you believe it has FOUR bedrooms, and FOUR full baths! It has 3800 square feet of sail, and dual diesel engines. They did not have the price listed ... ... ...

After we got back home, I crashed. I then got up, and for the last three days, I went to work!!! That is the most I have been able to work, in the past five months! For some strange reason, the beast has dropped WAY back in number and intensity of hits. I am only getting between 6 to 8 hits a day, and most of those are at night!

WOO-FUCKIN-HOO!!!!

It feels GREAT to be able to go back to work! Although, being the old fart that I am, and not having worked in about 5 months, I have been DEAD tired at the end of the day, so I have not been in here. I come home, and go right to bed.

So that is where I have been, and what I have been doing!

Have all y'all been behaving?

Looks like you had lots of fun!! and your grandchild is a cutie!!!
happy to hear you got a little break and got to enjoy good and loving company!!

I could never afford to run the thing. They are purdy but probably get at 1/2 mile to a gallon.... :o Gas on the lake here is probably $5.

God, it would be fun though.

Looks like a great time, Chuck. Your grandson's gonna be mobile before too long. He's pretty darn cute.

I'm glad you had a chance to meet Pete and his wife. Haven't met them yet, but have really enjoyed talking to him in chat.

Glad the beast is letting up some,wish he would lose
your address permanantly.Looks like your making the most of this time with your Grandson.I notice with the martini's your Grandson looks like he's grabbing your shirt and saying"Look Grandpa share the booze and I won't hurtya" That or "quick mom's not looking give me another couple of sips,next time stirred NOT shaken !

I love it, looks like one of those old shuttles to a big wooden yacht. You can see where they would sit in back with a towel ready like a water limo.

Brew Chuck's interpretation of a martini is pure gin that has been kept in the same cupboard as an unopened bottle of vermouth ;)

I have to say, I have never tried it ...

BUT, I just did some surfing about martinis ... and found a site with a gazzillion different recipies .. Most sounded horrible!

However, I DID find one that sounds like the way I like them ... I always did like the drink's namesake ....

Churchill's Martini Recipe

6 parts gin
Bottle of dry vermouth
Cocktail olive
Shake gin in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, look toward France then look at the bottle of vermouth. Garnish with olive.

As Hawkeye Pierce used to say, "Make me a martini so dry that, if you drop it, you'll have to sweep it up with a broom and dustpan. Just whisper the word vermouth over the top of the glass. A veritable dustbowl of a martini."
