I was looking through a scholastic poem book that Dawson brought home from school and found this. With the addition of two words(in caps) I think this poem will work for him. I am going to print it up and frame it. And when in cycle, repeat it to him. Maybe it will help him to remember that it's only one battle at a time. He can and will still win the "war" against the beast.

I spied my shadow slinking
up behind me in the night,
I issued it a challenge,
and we started in to fight.

I wrestled with that shadow,
but it wasn't any fun,
I tried my very hardest-
all the same, my shadow
HAD NOT won.

That's very cool, Margo. Maybe you can have Dawson illustrate it? Then you could have the whole thing framed.

Wow that is great! I would make it big and prominent so it stands out as a huge reminder to him, great idea mom!
