Good things come in small packages? The clothes in the kids section are much less expensive? Coach seats feel like first class to you? As you age when you fall it's not as painful?  ;;D......I'll stop now :-X

Well I'm 5ft one and a half inches tall without shoes and my 12 year old daughter is taller than me and has bigger feet which is great 'cos she can't nick my shoes anymore!

With shoes on I can be anything up to 5' 5" though  :P

Jennifer, world need great short women! :)

I've used to being the shortest one around since the third grade. I'm used to the fact that kids are taller than me after they turn 7... ::)

My old land lady told me that I'm 4'11", but all I know is that my height is something like 145-147 cm, it depends. :-X  You tell me how tall I am.

And BTW, before anyone comes up with cute ways to use my head... let's just say that I've developed a nasty side thanks to ch... ;;D

Damn Jonny...had me and Gordo in stitches.  He almost chocked on his OJ and I on my Red Bull.  It's at least a good way to clean up that stubborn dust that keeps showing up at the computer table.  Sorry Jen.  That was a good one.

If it makes you feel better, i'm 5'7" and the tallest in my family.   :-/  My Mom is 4'8", though I hear she used to be 4'11" and she says that with pride.  LOL.  3 sisters and they're all under 5'.

My Mom says I turned out tall cause she breastfeed me the longest.  :-[

OMG.

funny story to attach to this thread...

so i'm standing in the kitchen while mom's making dinner, and it hits me how i'm at least three inches taller than her.

me: ya know, mom? i bet i could kick your ass, if i wanted to.

mom: oh, yeah?

and then she preceded to knock out my legs from under me and sat on me.

she's inhumanly strong for a short person.

I'm not sure how it works for women, but there's a point in every young man's life when he eyes up his old man and thinks to himself, "I could take this guy." That's one of the first steps toward manhood.

The final step into manhood is when that same young man, several years older now, looks at his old man again and says to himself, "That old f*cker is as full of shit as I am."

Welcome to manhood.

I have legs from my ass to the ground and that makes me plenty tall enough to do as I damned well please (most of the time anyway).

When the boys were growing up, I taught them many of the moves I had learned in Jujitsu and during the course of my military and law enforcement training so they could defend themselves.  My oldest boy was constantly trying out his newly learned lessons on me, always to end up on his back looking up at me.  When he asked me how come the stuff I taught them didn't work against me I told him, "I taught you everything you know.  I didn't teach you everything I know."

Needless to say, I've never had that "showdown" with any of my boys.

Well, I don't have any sons but did get to do the same things with some teenage boys across the street who had what I considered an excessive admiration for my daughter.  ;;D We would get together every morning at 0530 and I'd teach them Ju Jutsu and Kali. After that they were so polite.

And by the way, Mike, the "showdown" is never verbalized or physically manifest. It only happens in the young one's head. Once he realizes that both he and his old man are equally full of shit, nothing physical ever need happen. "Full of shit" is a figurative way of saying "mortal."

I suppose that might be how it is in a "normal" household, but what do I know about normal.  I grew up in what would now be considered an abusive home.

My showdown came when I was 16.  My stepfather picked up an aluminum baseball bat and raised it above his head to hit me and instead of cowering and whimpering like I had been programed to do over the years, I stood toe to toe with him, looked him in the eyes with all the hate I could muster and I said "If you hit me, you better kill me, 'cause if you don't, I will kill you."  I guess he knew I was serious, because I was never hit again after that.

And here I was being kind of proud that I never had to have a showdown with my sons.
