Title: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Apr 23rd, 2007, 6:02pm Well, stinky has learned a lesson on what NOT to say at school. She was playing with her fellow first graders and someone said "Dianan likes boys" So, embarassed, she says "Oh yeah? Well I have a gun in my backpack and I am going to kill you" She got suspended from school, and now has to talk to a counselor about anger management. :o |

Post by Rosybabe on Apr 23rd, 2007, 6:09pm I think that attitute is getting everywhere, mine is not at school yet and yesterday she got mad at her toy and I heard her yelling to it:"I hate you, I am going to kill you!"...of course my husband had "the talk" with her, so will see....hang in there, this has to pass... |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by Brewcrew on Apr 23rd, 2007, 6:41pm Every kid ends up blurting out a variation of the "I'm going to kill you" theme. Just use it as a learning/teaching experience, tell the school administration not to get their knickers in a knot, and move on. If they do, escalate your defense accordingly (including a lawyer as a last resort). |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by BB on Apr 23rd, 2007, 7:13pm I think it is so ironic that a first grader gets pulled for saying " I am going to kill you " out of a one minute burst of anger, yet a college student who had been noted by many to be "mentally disturbed " and "behaving in a strange way " , who wrote extremely sexual and violent plays , to the degree that one teacher refused to have him in her class was allowed to walk around unchecked, learning how to shoot and buying lethal weapons. It looks like the effort is being focussed at the wrong end of the scale? Annette |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by Linda_Howell on Apr 23rd, 2007, 8:49pm Brian, Just make sure she doesn't try to innocently hug a boy, or she will be brought up on charges of "sexual harrassment" like that other poor little kid in Kindergarten a yr. or so ago did. Also tell her not to bring Midol to school when she's a teen-ager and having "those" cramps. She'll be brought up on drug charges. This world has gone crazy. I feel for you right now. I really do. :-/ |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by Charlie on Apr 23rd, 2007, 9:39pm I'm with Linda too. Damn. When I was a kid that was standard stuff in my school. Teach might tell you what an idiot you were but that's about it. We aren't allowed to make mistakes now. Pretty sad. Charlie |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by Linda_Howell on Apr 23rd, 2007, 10:18pm Every single generation...(I think that's what?) 20 years? Thinks that their generation was the best. sadly, those of you are 30 or under...will never be able to state that, and I soooo feel for you. You will never know: what is is like to walk into high school without going through some sort of machine. what is is like to actually carry your babies in a car without the police telling you how that should be done. OHHH... I could go on: How about it guys? lets tell poor Brian and all the others out there like E-dub...what it was like to be a child before...before what? Before the world got crazy?? |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Apr 23rd, 2007, 11:17pm I hear you Linda. Remember when "Cowboys and Indians" was a fun game to play? Cant play it anymore, for racial reasons and for weapons reasons. I understand there is a procedure for when a kid says they have a gun. I understand this needs to be followed, even for my daughter. But, damn, the principle and her teacher adore her, and say she is one of the best kids in the whole school in terms of her behavior and her willingness to learn. Her school is named Concord. Last week there was an assembly for the whole school and 5 students were given awards and called "Concord Stars". 5 students out of several hundred are called Concord Stars, and Dianan is one of them. It seems weird that the staff knows Dianan and all say she is a perfect student......but she needs to go meet with a counselor to be evaluated. How can a shrink meet with Dianan for an hour and get a better evaluation than the teachers and admin she has known for 18 months? That doesn't make sense to me.....but, I guess it is the procedure. It just seems weird to me, but, I guess I am only a parent, what the hell do I know? |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by DonnaHar on Apr 24th, 2007, 8:31am This is really a sad situation for such a good little kid. When my youngest grandson was in the second grade, and a very caring and good little boy, he was always in trouble for forgetting his homework, staring out of the window during class, not standing still in line and always talking when he wasn't supposed to...things like that. The teacher called my daughter for a conference. The teacher decided that he had ADD. The teacher decided that the school needed to do a psychological evaluation. The councelor decided that he needed to be put on Ritilan. My daughter said "NO WAY" She took him to the familys' Pediatrician who ordered her own evaluation and the kid was found to be bored with the school work. They finally agreed to put him in another program at school and it worked. He turned out to be a great student, good citizen and won achievement awards. The moral of this story is.........don't let them push you around! Go to your own doctor. If you listen to the school's advice, you just might be letting them make a mistake with your little child's future. |

Title: Re: Stinky the convict?!?! Post by thomas on Apr 24th, 2007, 10:28am She is being assimilated into the machine. Public school, our fat, over-fed governments greatest resource for training future tax payers who have been ingrained to follow procedure no matter how ridiculous it seems. Before you call me crazy, you'd better think on it for more than a second. |
