Title: Update on Member's Brother Post by ClusterChuck on Apr 20th, 2007, 8:51am Do you remember? on 03/06/07 at 12:34:58, artonio7 wrote:
Well, I have good news about the brother. He is home, now and doing much better. He still has some problems with memory and still on medication to prevent epileptic fits, but otherwise he is fine. I chatted with our fellow member and I was told that the family is quite happy with the brother's progress. I am sorry to be vague about the member's name, but without that person's permission, I won't mention who it is. Thanks for your vibes and prayers for the brother's recovery. Chuck |

Title: Re: Update on Member's Brother Post by LeLimey on Apr 20th, 2007, 10:38am Thanks for the update Chuck. I was thinking about this while I was in hospital myself and wondering if there had been an update I'd missed. I'm so glad all is well. :) |

Title: Re: Update on Member's Brother Post by Brewcrew on Apr 20th, 2007, 10:42am I'm very happy for __________. This sounds like one of the best possible outcomes given the circumstances. Now don't tell 'em I said so. Anonymity is a two-way street. ;;D |

Title: Re: Update on Member's Brother Post by BB on Apr 20th, 2007, 8:57pm Thanks Chuck and Tony and everyone else for your kindness and prayers :-* :-* :-* I guess I better fess up. Its my youngest brother. He is 32 years old. He plays soccer semi professionally. He was the team captain and goal keeper. At the last match, he jumped into a players feet to save the ball and got kicked really hard in the head. He managed to get back up but was dizzy. He continued to play for another few minutes. Then he suddenly turned to ask his defenders " Why am I here ? " then collapsed into a coma. He woke up in hospital the next day but promptly developed epileptic fits. The doctors were afraid that those fits would cause further bleeding in the brain so they put him back under a drug induced coma for nearly 2 weeks while they ran the tests and scans and adjusted the medication. Thats why I was away for the last few weeks. We went to visit him. He was discharged from hospital several days ago and is doing fine. As Chuck said, he is still having problem with memory and is still on anticonvulsant medication but he has recovered remarkably well. He is not back at work yet and wont be playing soccer for a while but he wants to go back to it as soon as possible. Thank you all so very very much for your well wishes and prayer, they definitely helped him and us a great great deal. My mum, my brother and his wife want to thank you all too. HUGS Annette |
