Title: NO NO NO NO NO
Post by UN solved on Apr 20th, 2007, 12:08am
I was talking to my brother in law on the phone. He's in Iraq. He said " OH SHIT " .... I heard lots of gunfire and explosions.

by the time I got to typing this out ... he came back on. ( It still seemed like forever )  He said it was ' only incoming mortar fire ' .   ::)

damn ... anyways ... I was tripping out a lil bit. I thought the shit was hitting the fan right where he was.

It's all over now, you can go back to your regularly scheduled programming  ;;D

Yes it does. It made me think of what's really important in life.  The little things we take for granted ... the things we sometimes get upset over ... at least we don't have rockets raining down on our heads !!

Hey US..

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about... :'( it is nerve wracking as hell...

At times when my husband and I are on messenger...he suddenly will type (with alot of typos)something loud just exploded...hold on..

And I just watch the cursor blinking....and blinking....and blinking....and it takes FOREVER it seems..and your brain is racing...it only takes a second to be all over...what if he doesnt COME BACK to finish?? All of that crap goes through your head.  And then there are many times the computer crashes and he has told me that happens when there are alot of deaths...of course due to all the necessary communication back to the states,etc. But not knowing is torture..

I have been in tears when he's taking "too long" to either contact me or get back to me...telling him "I am so upset right now Im beside myself"...but Phew! IMgladyou got the relief your heart needed.   Sherri  ;)

I also wanted to add a "Thank You"...to all of you.

Being on this site is not only a blessing due to having CH's and the ability to interract with others that do too...if has cheered me up alot...I mean ALOT.

This is a very straining time in my life...very frightening at all times.

And having all of you...whom make me laugh alot...teach me new things...reach out to me...has saved me.  Thanks... :) you all mean alot to me...  Sherri

I had only been married less than 2 months when Clark was sent to Bosnia - yeah I'm dating myself - but I'll never forget when I called and his commander said they were doing a bunker drill;

I turned on the TV, and as this was during the kick off of the Kosovo conflict and Clark was stationed 10 miles from the Serbian border, when they were displaying pictures of people running around in the pentagon trying to find out what was going on because 2 migs had been shot down in an act of aggression agaisnt the SFOR (Bosnian) troops, it was a loooooooooooooong 6 hours of anguish before I found out if he was ok.

Ree goes through this on a weekly if not daily basis;  For every one of our troops over there, there is a family back here hoping they come home safe.

Quote:
Read the letters and poems of the heroes at home, they have casualties  battles and fears of their own, there's a price to be paid, If ya go, if ya stay;  Freedoms fought for and won, in numerous ways;

Quote:
It takes courage to fight in your own war, it takes courage to fight someone else's war; Our peace keepers tell of their own living hell, they bring hope to foreign lands that hate mongers can't kill

Quote:
In peace time our best, still don battle dress...and lay their lives on the line

Slam the war if you want, right or wrong is irrelevant to the troops, they do what they ordered to do;  Do NOT ever slam the troops in my presence.

Thanks Catlind and Ree...

My heart and prayers are with you and all families and freinds of a loved one in Iraq at this time.  Very trying and heartbreaking...

Stay strong and as positive as possible...  Sherri

Yeah....

One thing I saw or read is that it's impossible for us to get it that these kids must long for the kind of American things we take so for granted. Just walking down a block while not worrying about getting shot at......well it used to be that way.....and being able to do all those things that we do so well. No matter what they say about us, we know what we're doing and do it bigger and better most of the time. I hope these kids get back to it like yesterday.

Charlie
