Title: TOD Team of destiny...
Post by jimmers on Apr 18th, 2007, 6:44pm
I have to go to meeting tonight at my best friends house for this bullshit. I will go, not say a word and leave. I know that this is another Quixtar/Amway scam but my best friend and his wife are falling for this bullshit "Hook, line and sinker". How the hell do you tell your best friends in the whole world that they are falling into a trap without hurting their feelings? They really believe in this pyramid scheme.

Anyone have any dealings or relatives that have fallen for this line of bullshit from TOD? I cannot believe that my best friend would be this ignorant to what the hell is going on.

Any thoughts?

Jimmers

Haven't heard of TOD but got roped into an Amway meeting many many years ago. It really screwed up what had been a long term friendship because I wasn't interested. I have trouble faulting anyone who tries to get ahead but if it's a typical pyramid scheme they're very profitable....for the first 2-3 people! Good luck!

In today's business world they are no longer called pyramids but MLM or Multi-Level Markenting Ploys.

Friend: Hey Jonny, I want you and the wife to come over tonite and talk about amway, cool?

Jonny: Are you kidding me?.....and leave my beers that will make me happy and not bore the living fuck out of me?....you fucking crazy, dude.....click!!

Thats how I would handle that bull-shit hands down!

You'll know they're brainwashed if they begin a conversation strangely flattering you.

"Jimmers, you've always seemed to me like a smart guy who knows what's going on, can make things happen and ahead of the curve kind of guy....

My bride solved this one decades ago. Tell any friend that you will gladly accept an invitation to their home if it's for socializing, eating, drinking, etc. The second someone tries to sell them something or otherwise get her to make any kind of financial commitment, WE ARE OUT OF THERE. She then tells them that friends are for the former, not the latter.

She doesn't get invited to the ponzi scheme meetings anymore.

936 years ago, when I was a little bit younger, I was "invited" to see a new project that my "friends" were working on.

Speaking to this person, a year or so later, I was told that they were instructed NEVER to mention that the invite had anything to do with sales, Amway, or anything like that.  They were even told to tell people that they are building a coffee table, or something like that, if they were pushed about what they were working on.

They were actually told to LIE to get you there!  AND they were told, that if their "friends" did not jump onboard, they really weren't your friends after all!!  What A$$HOLES!!!

When I am invited to someone's home I expect it is because of my sparkling personality and stimulating conversational skills . . . .   ::)

If there's any mention of Pampered Chef, Party Lite, purses, shoes, naughty underwear, or anything that smacks of a sales party I will tell them I'm not interested in being invited in order to spend money.

I haven't been invited for YEARS!!  It's wonderful!

(Except that one time Brew's cousin tried to get us to have some of his "colleagues" and him over to our house . . . he kept avoiding the direct question of what this was about.

I finally told him if he wouldn't tell me then it was a scam . . .and kept saying that 'til he hung up.  Is it any wonder I'm considered the Antichrist by brew's family?) [smiley=smug.gif]

I was meaning to ask some of you this.

I have the greatest vacuum cleaner ever built. You put water in it instead of a traditional bag!!! How great is that? And if buy and drive this beauty home tonight, I'll throw in a set of genuine replica Ginsu Knives!

If he's a buddy and not just a friend, tell what you think of his venture. Then bang his wife. ;) j/k

I just got home and could not wait to get out of there! This is the biggest line of bullshit ever!

MLM, amway, ponzi its all the same shit. This was almost to the point of being comical the way these people talk about "The Program" and how it can change your life. Oh it can change it all right, just give them $247.00 dollars and they'll tell you the next step (Of which I'm sure there are a thousand) to get to your dreams.

I was on the net today and what some of the people said that these people would say was almost word for word, it was actually pretty comical at times.

I just loved the part about only selling their website products to people who are IN the program.

If McDonalds only sold hamburgers to other McDonalds restarant owners, they would all be fuckin broke. Who the hell do these people think their kidding?

Another thing I did notice is that all of the people that were there were very religious. I don't think that that is a coincidence. This is Orrin Woodward at his best.

Seeya,

Jimmers

........The movie "Moon Struck" comes to mind... and the scene in which Cher slaps Nicholas Cage across the face really hard and says "Snap out of it!"  ;)

Right now a little girl (well she's 21 now) who used to work for me is into Pampered Chef and going full speed ahead. I really want to tell her -- slow down and think about this, but at 21 it won't do any good, so ..... I guess I'll let her find out for herself. And I'll probably buy something to help her get going until she finds out for herself.

Ok, we've all been there (when we were young and no one could tell us anything either). It's just a phase.

I had a friend who was into a phone company called Excel back in the dot com boom.  Same kind of pyramid deal.  He asked me to sign up for phone service which I did as a friend, it was terrible service.  However I never got involved beyond that and I told him straight out the whole thing was a dead end, as he found out a few years later.  He is a professional engineer and he owns a couple of restaurants and now he spends his time pursuing reasonable goals and the occasional wild hairs.  Sometimes he wins, sometimes he loses.  Mostly, it just tickles me to watch.

21, huh?

Well if she's hot and has a smoking body, I can try and screw some sense into her!

whenever I get invited to that kind of stuff I always tell them that I am broke, have no money for investments nor to pay debts...they don't ask again..the new one? about a new electric company, where you provide your own electricity, you just have to put $350 into the proyect and they will tell you what to  do...my neighboor went to the meeting and after a while I asked her how it went...she just told me : " Please lets talk about something else"....I guess it did not go well  :P

Kevin was right! I just talked to my buddy and he said all of those things.

I'm not going to ruin a friendship over this, but as his friend I guess I'll just have to "Bitchslap" him and his Wife back into reality! They might hate me at first, but maybe just maybe they will thank me in the end.

They always tell you how much money the person just above them in the pyramid makes. I work with a woman who sells Xango juice. Naturally, she told me it would help my clusters, LOL. Then she told me how much money I could make if I became a distributor. Who, of course, recruits more distributors...
I finally asked her if she ever heard of anyone actually buying it to drink. Then I told her about the $14 dollar bottle of mangosteen juice at Costco.  She hasn't talked to me about it since.
Good move, Jimmers.

Amway is from Michigan, the DeVos family.  First contact for me was 1969 and the second 1981.  TOD tactics are the same and haven't changed since.
