Title: If I have or do sound like an ass...... Post by JeffB on Apr 14th, 2007, 5:39pm I do apologize. I'm new at watching a loved one waste away before my eyes and I think I'm a bit thinned skinned these days. It's been hard for me to accept that I have only a short time to spend with my dad and while I know that the best thing to do these days is to enjoy every minute I have with the dude, it's not easy to do so with a happy heart! Again, let me say thanks for the support you guys give and sorry if I may come off as a prick at times. |

An added bonus is you are with your daughter and you need to be strong for her, since she is so close to him. I'm sure it's a lot prettier there, than it is in Sacramento too. One great thing about this place is that we are here to listen to you about all kinds of troubles. Headaches as well as life problems. You're one of the good guys Jeff. :-* |

Some years ago I decided to go through my old reel to reel audio tapes and dub them to cassette....We began taping in my family in the fifties...I found some of my dad and mother. It may be odd to some but I love listening to them. Dad was one of those goofs hiding microphones in dining room corners. Lots of vibes, Jeff. Charlie |

I just lost a close friend to brain cancer yesterday, and as hard as that hit it wasn't my dad. Make the most of the time you have with him, for both of you. Take the time to talk about all the things you wanted to talk about and never did. Get him to tell you about his life before you knew him, and of his parents and grandparents. You will treasure these things for the rest of your life. So many stories and songs get taken to the grave with us that need to be shared with those that we love. |

During that time, it is changing, growing wings..Once it is ready it HAS to struggle to get out of the cocoon. Should some helpful person come along and "help" the butterfly, it will die because its wings will be too weak to fly. You see, butterflies, and people, need a certain amont of struggle to become strong enough to survive. I have no friggin' idea how that applies to your situation, but thought you would enjoy the story. I am now among the elders of my family-both of my parents died almost 20 years ago. I was not there for my Dad (stationed in Germany-they didn't call the Red Cross until he died), was for my Mom. It's a struggle but its worth it. Hang in there buddy. LY kathy |

Today the chemo started and it looks like he's gonna have a lot of pain in his bones from it all. I just can't say enougth about the people at Duke Medical Center (centre, for those on that little island across the pond). Anyway , hope all on the east coast made it through the storms yesterday. |
