Eric - I hope you don't mind that I took liberty of painting your wonderful photo. But sometimes the muses whisper uncontrollably in my ear and I have to obey. I hope you like the rendering.

All the best,
Dan

Thank you for all the kind comments.
But if truth be told it is the subject matter that made
this painting -
An artist is only as good as his reference.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Guys,

First I want to thank all of you again for all your nice comments
about my work. A little overwhelming but nice all the same.
I have been doing this for so many years I sometime just take
what I do for granted.
To all of you who have privately messaged me about prints of this piece.
I am having some archival prints made up on watercolor paper. The size will
be 11X14 and as best as I can judge will be 45.00 dollars plus actual shipping.
So if you still want a copy just email me and I will get that off to you as soon
as they are done.  -  dan@designartz.com

All the best,
Dan

Why do you all want a picture of me and my daughter?

I would really like to be placed in an area that does not have candles and an alter.

No needles or sacrifices please.

If you choose to pray to me and my family then please make donations directly to my daughter's college account and I will of course give Dan his due for starting the cult of Double Trouble.

with warm regards ;;D

Of course you are going to be biased.  But from a purely "outside" point of view, it is a great picture, the emotion was really captured.  And you both make great subjects.  It really is a good piece.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you DID secure copyright to e-double's photo before producing it, right?

American copyright law gives all rights to e-double the moment he created the photo.  Permissions would need to be obtained from him, in writing, before altering or creating anything based upon it, especially if you wish to sell anything related to it.

From Dans website.

"Giclee prints of most of my fine art paintings are available for purchase. A 12x16 is $75 plus shipping. Larger sizes are available upon request. Regular 11x14 inkjet prints are $45 plus shipping.""

Does it really cost that much?...or is this a fucking scam?

Yes, Jonny, they can cost that much.
We own a business that does printing.
Top of the line printers, quality, ink, and paper cost that much :)

Thank you, I was just having a problem with the wording.

In Dans post he says " archival prints"......but, on his website he says "inkjet prints" and they cost the same.

Im sorry I dont know the diff!

Can anyone tell me the diff?

Archival has a specific meaning relating to the amount of time we expect the pigments in the ink to maintain their colors and the paper to maintain its integrity. Each manufacturer has diffferent time spans over which they guarantee the stability of their inks when used with specific papers. In the old days, when prints were made with photographic chemistry and dyes, the only "archival" printing technologies were Cibachrome and Dye-transfer. Each had its own strengths and weaknesses, but the bottom line was that museums and collectors could expect at least 150 years of color stability with these processes if the prints were stored and diaplayed properly.

There are a number of inkjet tochnologies today that meet this 150+ year standard, and the Giglée system (when used with appropriate papers) can meet or exceed this time frame. Your home inkjet printer, even most "archival" home photo printer will not meet this tolerance, unless you store and display your prints in a cool, dark, dry room, which makes them pretty hard to enjoy.

James Lockman, Rori's husband and Adobe Certified Print Specialist (by way of authority on the subject)

Archival prints are prints of any sort done on archival paper or board.

Archival type paper or board is acid free (neutral pH) and  lasts longer than other papers and also holds color longer.

Archival type paper or board can last 100 years or longer and is used for fine art prints and limited edition prints to extend the life of the artwork.

It's not your basic 20lb copy paper . . . .

and I'm still wondering about copyrights . . . .

Thank you for the info, sweets.

I think I will save $50 and just print it out, I dont think I will be living another 150 years ;;D
