become a sewer.

Now I am a pretty tolerant guy. for the most part I believe in all people and hold nothing against people of any belief or sexual persuasion. In fact I enjoy the differing perspectives.

This place has become pretty hard to read between the lines and a few simple comments ruin all the good it can do.
After not coming here for a couple weeks I read comments like holding sperm up your ass, I get to be the first to fuck him by another guy, taking it in the bung hole and on and on and on turn my stomach.

Keep it to yourself or have I misjudged and this is a gay site and I am out of place. I have a few gay friends but they have a hell of a lot more tact than the trash I see posted here.
I know I dont have to read those posts but they pop up in many posts. I havent been on here every day any longer but still.

I certainly would have difficulty reccomending this site any longer and feel sorry for those less tolerant than myself. Especially I feel for the minors who have come here seeking help and have to read some of the disgusting stuff.

Its wonderfull to be open about your sexuality or faith but I personally and a few others dont want to here about your twisted sexual realities.

I guess I just prefer to be able to offer a few help points for those who suffer, the beauty of life and the realities outside of your pants. I must be alone in this as many others who cared have left.

I still believe its a good site but it went downhill fast. Those that truly need the help may be running out the door faster than they come in.

I will most likely delete this post in a few days unless its deleted first as its really not my place to say all this. I believe in free speech as long as it harms no other and what I see can and does harm the collective good works of many.

Yeah, there has been quite a bit of raunch as of late, I noticed.  An occasional feature of any unmoderated net forum.

As one sensitive enough to take offense to it, why do you not have one of the many profanity/content filters running on your browser?
Minors and sensitive adults should all have screening facilities on their browsers, without exception.


I suppose I get to share my personal peeve...
CH.com regulars who have yet to hit the 'PayPal Donate' button on the bottom of every screen.

Yes, there have been a lot more sexually explicit comments than usual lately.  A few months ago, there were a lot of racial comments.  A while before that is was religion...or was it religion then racial... Anyways, the content here ebbs and flows as it always has.  We may be back to religion next week - or aliens.  Who knows?  

I may not like everything that is posted here, but I don't focus on it either or at least I try not to.  If I swore off everyone and everything that offended me at one time or another, I'd be left sitting and talking to myself all day.  For that matter, I'd probably have to just shoot myself and be done with me as well.  

What's important is that we rush to each others' aid when someone is down or needs help or information.  When the commentary gets a little over the top in one area or the other, try focusing on that.

Lobster I tried to instal several different porn blockers so I wouldn't see offensive material.  Unfortunetly because of certain pictures and the swearing on this site it makes this site banable and therefor I can't see it at all.  So my only choice is ban ch.com altogether or deal with the offensive material.  I have learned in general over the years who the guilty parties are and have learned to avoid reading their posts.  I think this is sad because I am sure these individuals have something valuable to post as well that I will miss.

I usually don't get into stuff like this, but....

There's too much good on this site to quibble over the stuff we don't like. If there's something that you don't like skip over it. There's no rule that says you have to read everything. What one person thinks funny might offend another. That's just what happens when you get this many personalities in one place.

As Gator says - let someone need help and we all have the same goal - to help.

I have been quite busy lately and have not read as many posts as I have in the past, but we probably have been reading different posts because I haven't seen anything that offending. Lucky me.

But I agree what has been posted before; skip the material you do not like and keep the rest. Personally I skip the too political titles, because I've seen flames come and go there in the past.

I just don't understand why you feel the need to shit all over this site...this is the General Message Board.... which to me means pretty much any and all goes!  If you come here strickly for support, stay on the CH Only Message Board.... I come to the general board most days so I can get to know people, make jokes, laugh, cry, support a sick child, grandchild, family member.... and I have NEVER been offended.... to each his own..... and I don't fault someone for stepping over a line...we are all fighting a battle that we will NEVER win, so sometimes we might vent in other ways and we're not all the same, I think the consensus is that if you are offended, don't read!  Do we have to start putting warning labels on our posts now?....geez.... ::)

c'mon april...it's been pretty damned raw around here very recently. and if someone wants to hold up their hand and say "hey guys, can you keep it just a little bit less whatever" I don't think that is "shitting all over the site". The site needs some criticism from time to time -- and it isn't shitting all over the site.
if you aren't offended - then fine. But, sometimes others can be. And, just as anyone has a right to be raw, anyone else has a right to call someone on it.

When making a post I try to keep this in mind... If my mother would read what I've written, would she be embarrassed to say I'm her son? (I have some extremely conservative family members who would rinse their eyes with holy water after reading some of the posts here... so I don't invite them here.)

I only have control of what I do... if someone has a different style of expressing themselves then who am I to try and censor them... this is the world wide web. The people here are here to be supportive... and they do that flawlessly, I will not dismiss them as unworthy because they express themselves differently then me. If I did that I'd be talking to a mirror all day.

OK, I have withheld commenting on this thread, as I was not sure what to say.  I DID send a private appology to MJ, though.

I am fairly certain a lot of my comments fall into his comments.  I DO tend to have a sick, demented sense of humor, BUT I never intended to offend people.

Virtually everyone has accepted me, as me ... a gay guy.  When I came out, on the board, here, I got FANTASTIC support, publicly, and privately via PM's, email, and phone calls.  Another reason why I love all y'all so much.

That being said, it does NOT give me free rein to be rude, crude and disgusting, on the open board.  For that, I am sorry.   I DO try to post some levity, to put a smile on our faces, let's face it, many times we NEED that.  BUT, I NEVER intended to be obnoxious, and offensive.

I will watch what I post, in the future.

Exactly. Only those with simple minds think that they cannot contemplate CH and its impact on others while they are out of cycle.

Which might actually be better, now that I think about it. Do I want the help of somebody if they don't give it freely? I'd just as soon they went and diddled themselves so I can communicate with somebody who actually gives a shit (like I did when they needed help).

yep, that's true. And I know that cuz I was one of 'em.  Till one day I realized that stickin around meant FIGHTING BACK. Takes awhile to learn that.

Sometimes fighting back means lettin it all out, whether raunchy, stoic, comical, desperate, comforting, bitchy, or down right pissed off!  

MJ, yeah, you're offended by some comments. We probably all have been at one time or another. I'll be the first to admit I can be extremely thin-skinned and get hurt or offended by stuff on here. Do yourself a favor as did I:  get over it. Its who we are, its how we cope and how we fight. If the words on a screen scald, go to another topic.

Not bandwagon jumping here. Just  weighed the sides and offering my opinion.

Editting to add:  Please don't read my words with as said with a hateful tone, because its not at all. I say what I say as someone who learned the hard way to balance things on here.

Full context? Are you speaking directly to MJ or to anyone that may also feel as though things have been a little rough around the edges lately. Gotta problem with someone saying something about it? I dont know why im going to post this, maybe so you better know where im coming from.

I have been here nearly everyday since Oct 1999, PF or not.

A few years ago I spent six months helping my older brother pay his mortgage, he would call every couple days to see how I was doing with the CH.

He eventually got a good job and paid me back, but he has not called me in two and a half years since.

I have no use for people like that, not even blood relatives!

Most of you don't know shit about me - some do. Those that do know where I stand. I show up, good times and bad. Sometimes I connect with someone that I see I've had some similar feeling or experience -- others, someone else is there.

Many of you put it all out there. That works for you. I can handle the cluster shit -- I cry with some of you and your supporters. Sometimes the other stuff is just plain tiring though. I don't give a shit if you're gay -- I've plenty of close gay friends. I don't care if you're a redneck, hillbilly, republican or screaming liberal. But, it doesn't mean the site doesn't just get tiresome with some of this shit.

I am not posting this because I am offended, but in defense of MJ who merely asked a bit of deference in some of the postings./  I recognized two different threads in his references in which the threads were hijacked and taken down a path that the original post did not intend.  I often think some of the posts that can be taken offensively are quite funny knowing where they come from, but to often they come at the expense of another persons serious post.  (And no I did not contribute through PayPal and will not since they screwed up my account and allowed my information to be stolen.  Doesn't mean though that I have not contributed.)

I look at it this way.  God gave us vowels and consonants to make words.  Society has decided some of those vowels and consonants strung together are inappropriate.  Like we are above having said any of those words in our lives?  There is not a liquor store in this area of Arkansas that does not have a drive-by pickup window.  That is so the Baptists do not have to get out of their vehicles and be seen.  It is all in perception.

To respect those in society who are offended by what is deemed fowl language, I try not to use it.  When I do use it, it is because I am spiritually low or I have a FUCKING headache.

okay, I'm up. As usual. not a rational argument amongst you. Just a lot of high-minded, libertarian whining. You guys are right. This site is just for you. Although the highlight of the thread is the "I only say mean/crude things when I have a headache" defense is a gem. Awesome, just awesome. The points been made, whine all you want. In the end you take what you want and leave the rest (could we overuse this friggin phrase any more than we have already). The visual that is sitting in my mind is from yesterday evening I was walking the dog and a woman pulls into the turning lane about 12 feet from me, she's yakking on her cell phone, takes a big drag from her cigarette, cracks her window down and tosses the butt out the window and looks right at us as she's doing it. That's what this thread reminded me of. Take what you want from that.

I'm insensitive but most of all, I can't piece together some of the things that were mentioned. I have no doubt that they must have been said  but it seems to me that on the whole, we can be vulgar but rarely nasty to those that don't deserve it and then a lot of things get sorted out anyway.

Laughing - this has been one hell of a thread.  It's made me angry, disgusted, yet also has made me laugh,

MJ, I cannot disagree with you.  Some threads are absolutely disgusting, with foul language, frequent use of the "F" word, bigotry, racial slurs, and offensive links posted.  I've learned over the time I've been here, to click on a thread, see where it's headed, and if it's not something I care to read, just click off that thread, going to the next.  It's kind of like the remote for your TV set.  Watch/read what you want, don't watch/read what you don't like, click that button.  Personal choice.

When on the general board, everything and anything is fair game.  You either read it, or if you don't like what is being said, don't read it.  Personal choice.  

This is a very large, extended family, with all sorts of different personalities, some good, some not so good.  Because I've gotten so much help and support here, I have chosen to take the good and the bad of my family.  They are all my family.

I joined this web for one reason only, clusterheadaches.  I hit the specific boards, the meds board, the newbies board, and, yes, even the general board, and, although not frequently until lately, the guest book (shame on me for not doing this earlier).

You mentioned in your post that many who have cared have left.  Those of us who do really care, even when we are out of cycle, are still here.  So maybe those "carers" who have left, only care when they are in pain.

I will still maintain...you are some of the funniest, wittiest people congregated in one place I've ever met...making even my dear Charlie comment..and Chuck it was really nice to see another side of you in the heartfelt apology...not because you apologized...just for showing another awesome side of yourself....I took heed to a lesson learned early on on this board...I lost my temper with an exceptional, very kind man by taking his comment wrong and personally...I felt sick all day after posting a strong reaction...and he apologized in a very kind sincere way...(we resolved things thankfully)...but my point is stepping back and "breathing" before I react...hey whatever...I know for sure when we're all together...face to face...able to hear the other's tone of voice, see eachother's facial expressions...it will be all good....all about support, loving eachother, supporting eachother. How could the conventions be nothing short of magical...that's not magic...that's love.  I sure as hell don't want to argue with the only people who know what Im living with.  But to each his own...seriously. I waited a few years for the ability to be able to get here...I thought it was a site for support...not sarcastic, rude and insensitive comments.  However, that says nothing about me...only the individual commenting.

I try not to direct any opinions towards others..I try to be clear it's just MY opionion.  How unfortunate it would be if CH sufferers stopped coming to this site due to the rude, unneccessary remarks.  I love being here, but it hardly determines my worth or ability to deal with it...I've done it for a long time.  

But I sure would miss the funny, kind and tactful people.

Yes, Mike, my mind has started working that way. I just find it strange which words are censored and which words are not. Wouldn't have been my choices, but it ain't my site either.

"Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm".  Old novel.  It's a metaphor for a place of (perhaps cloying) sweetness.  

No, I suppose the net's not really so bad, but if you're on any of the discussion boards or active in the blogosphere, you have to have a pretty thick skin.  Flaming has been elevated to an artform in some places.

Really, this place is remarkably civil--considering that it's populated by people and not diaphanous angelic beings.  It's in the nature of us skunky monkeys to take a whack at each other once in awhile, I think.  It's hard for me to get too upset about it.

EJ told me last night that she read somewhere that any group consisting of more than seven people begins to form factions.  I suppose it's inevitable, then.  Better to laugh about it, I think--unless it's my ox that's being gored.      ;;D

Im probably wrong on this one...but here goes...isn't it diaphanous....

I would assume to "flame" means insulting someone in computer lingo?

George I enjoy language...it's the only reason I brought up diaphanous. It's nice to hear the English language fully exercised and properly used.  Today it's so rare with so many slangs and rap, etc.  Thanks.  :)

back to the original post, I'm on the fence with this one.  I'm a mod on a fishing site and we have become the biggest online because of 1 main reason,IMO.  we are a FAMILY friendly board.  We don't let threads blow up and in our "everything else" section, there are no political or religious posts allowed.  Swearing isn't even allowed, lots of kids there.

But that's us and that's a fishing site.

This site saves people.  Supports people in REAL need, not just ones looking for the latest  lure.


I don't come here alot but I've certainly taken more than I've given and coming back this time has made me realize this.

I'm out of work right now (temp disability, still have job), no meds or O2 till I figure out the welding regulator thing but that doesn't matter.  I donated 10 bucks, pennies, I know, but it's all I can spare right now.  Even now that I gave a few dollars, I would never insult this site.  

Like Jonny said, stick to the CH specific boards if you are only here to sleeper some support and never give anything back other than "holier than thou" spewings.

My girlfriend isn't a member but she has also benefited from the supporters section.

My parents too

Would I expect them to donate?  no,....but I now feel a need to represent for them, and myself.  There will be further donation when I'm back on my feet, I promise but till then, all I have to offer is a day of fishing for anyone in New England that would like to enjoy the day when not in a cycle.  Pm me.  I don't really know enough to help council folks like many others here and time can be tight but what I have is yours.

Not your mistake.  My editorial mistake, initially--I fixed it.  But not before Scott glommed onto it.   :)

I meant a filmy, gauzy, insubstantial thing of extreme wispiness--not some derivative of "diaphone", which is completely different.  I would never insinuate that Scott was somehow like a big pipe on an organ.  No, indeed.
