Woke up this morning to our mailboxes trashed and taken. Who would take a couple of mail boxes? There was five, now there is three. Mine is the rusted one so no great loss for me but now we have to go buy a new one.

Hey Jonny, can you come up with a "vandal proof" mailbox for the "braindead wonders" that roam our streets after midnight? [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif]

Our mailbox is the first one of a long street of mailboxes that used to get hit with baseball bats from passing punks.

Dear brewcrew solved it!

He used a large mailbox and set our smaller one inside. He then filled the gap between mailboxes with CONCRETE!! He had to reinforce the pole to hold that sucker up - it was HEAVY.

It survived for years without any further problem.

Sorry buddy, about your trouble with vandals. Your request, to Jonny, reminds me of my father's neighbor's son, who is also a welder. They were sick and tired of the kids driving by, and smashing their mailbox, with a baseball bat.

He made his own box, that looked just like the one you would buy in Wally World, except he fabricated it out of 1/4" steel, and then welded it to an empty welding tank, and then sunk it into the ground, and cement.

He LOVED hearing the sound of a baseball bat hitting it, a few nights later. He found pieces of the broken bat, the next morning. I bet that kid's arm vibrated for the next month! LOL

That box has also survived, undamaged, several cherry bomb attacks!

mount a fake surveillance camera.

Feeling a little better, using the same amount of trex, went 3 hours pain free yesterday. However, the bastard has crept up on me again, fast and furious, damn it. Thank you, and I'm sorry, but gotta hit the trex again.

Thanks for all the tips. I am steering towards the concrete inside the mail box, with a thick wall of steel. ;;D ;;D

Love to see their arms ring! I did not lose much,
but it the frigin vandalism in general that bites my a--!

The video of the guys with bats in the Toyota Truck is why I think the concrete is a good way to go!

The downside to the concrete mailbox is the WEIGHT.

Several years after brew made it, it was hit by a car going about 40 mph down our residential street IN REVERSE! That mailbox flew about 15 feet in the air and about 20 feet down the street and left an ENORMOUS dent in the ditch (quite beside what it did to the idiot's car).

It was great fun to watch and I'm just glad no one was hurt.

Our current mailbox is cheap plastic.
