I just recieved an e-mail stating that my PAYPAL account is low. The email contained a link to a website that claims to be PAYPAL but it IS NOT. They were trying to get my username & password.

The thing is: I don't have a PAYPAL account !!

Don't fall for it !! ( Or you will lose your money )

Right.

I get those things about once a week. It's always B.S. but if you want to verify your account DO NOT go through the link nor confirm anything. Go to your regular long way around password entry. I can't say it enough.

We used to get those several times a week until we got a really good spam filter. Reported them as a matter of course to Paypal. (The folks at Paypal really, really like hearing about the scam websites--as near as I can tell, there are zillions.) Same phishing deal as the emails from your "bank" asking for your personal information. Don't click, don't answer, report 'em.

It's interesting. I haven't been getting nearly as many letters from Nigerian millionaires lately, and it's been nearly a month since I've won the Irish Lottery. ;)

That reminds me ... some rich guy in Nigeria says he needs my help to move millions ... and if I help him, he'll give me millions. All I have to do is give him my bank account numbers and he'll deposit the cash. I just haven't gotten around to emailing him back yet. ::)

If you get an email from paypal, and you think it's not real, and most of them aren't, forward it to spoof@paypal.com. If it's real, or a fake, they will tell you, and pretty quickly too.

Same goes for ebay. spoof@ebay.com They respond right away too.
