Just finished Stephen Donaldson 'Gap Cycle' series again.

Wrapped up 'The Gap into Ruin: This Day All Gods Die' a few days ago.

Horrors!  Found out that I do not have anything waiting in the wings to read.  Immediately ordered a stack of used books off Amazon... so my next read will be the first one to make it to my mailbox.

Have three books that I am working on right now:

Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind (recommended by Ramon....great book)

Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig - oldie but goodie that for some reason I never got around to reading...go figure?

Karate-Do, My Way of Life by Gichin Funakoshi - a re-read that helps to calm the psyche during rattled times.

Lisey's Story--a big, fat Stephen King novel.  I don't have as much time to read these days, so it could take longer than ususal for me.  I like it alot so far.

Usless Information

did you KNOW that the three president's who faced impeachment all had names referring to their "winkies"?

Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton and Richard NIxon

That's about as usless information as you can get -- the rest of the book is hillarious too...

I'm still reading "Zodiac." No; it's not a result of the movie. It's one of those that I find around here now and then...Not well-done. Boring.

After ten years, I finally read "Glenn Miller & His Orchestra." This is one of those things relatives buy you for Christmas when you mention that you like a lot of big band stuff....although, his is not my favorite. The book was okay.

In my neck of the woods, I've heard "Johnson" and "Dick," but we've never referred to our "winkies" as "William," "Jefferson," "Blythe," or "Clinton."

"Willie" perhaps.... ;;D

Unless Bill Clinton's nickname was "Schwanstucker...."

I recently read "For One More Day" by Mitch Albom - very good book!

I'm now about 2/3 of the way through "Naked" by David Sedaris.  My brother picked this book out for me for Christmas, and it's hilarious!!  Very good!!  Anytime someone has read the book and sees me reading it, they say, "Oh that's such a great book!!"  Of course, one day one of my fellow nurses saw me reading it at lunch time and said, "Carrie...what the hell are you reading?  Porn?"  LOL..it isn't...but I knew somebody would make that comment.  So now I read it with the cover flat on the table!  Ha!...  I highly recommend it!! :)

Mel, is The Secret written by Rhonda Byrne? If, then let me know what you think about it, because I have thought about ordering it. :)

I've been reading mostly media theory lately, so the last non-theory book I read was Wayne W. Dyer's The Power of Intention, which I enjoyed a lot.

I am currently reading all the Beverly Lewis books I can get from the library. The ones I like so much are based in the amish communuties in P.A.She was raised near their and has many friends to make sure she's accurate.I am on the fourth  book in the Abrams daughters series. The main charactor being Leah Ebersol and her family.  She's known as a christian writer and has childrens books as well as adult.heres her website.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
http://tinyurl.com/25f97e

----------------------------------------------------------------------
(Abram's Daughters series
Abram's Daughters introduces readers to an Old Order family, a close-knit community and a devout people whose way of life and faith in God is as timeless as their signature horse and buggy.

Set against the backdrop of post-World War II, this compelling saga spans three generations of a Lancaster County Amish family. Abram Ebersol and his devoted wife are raising four courting-age daughters on a firm foundation of Plain tradition, and they expect their girls to carry on that heritage by joining the church and making a covenant with God.

But the "running-around" years known as rumschpringe are often a time of sowing wild oats. Each of Abram's daughters, choosing her own path, must come to terms with the Old Ways of thinking and living. And sometimes that path has detours and forks in the road with unknown destinations….

The Covenant
The Betrayal
The Sacrifice
The Prodigal
The Revelation
-------------------------------------------------------------
The Heritage of Lancaster County series was the first series .I got all three in one book .even spent money buying it new.I am definately a public library, yard sales and flea-market person.I get all my Danielle steel at them.hard to find any of those I haven't read.

Be sure to take a look at the limited printing if you get a chance.  I saw one once, a quarto--very attractively bound in black leather with silver and red lettering.  Signed in blood by the editors on the frontis.  (Or alleged blood--there were five hundred copies made, if I recollect, and the guys may have gotten a bit watery toward the last.)   ;;D

Not bad for a nonexistent book by the Mad Arab, Abdul Alhazrad.  Supposed to be dangerous and unlucky to have a copy around, you know.....

I actually acquired one for a female practitioner of the dark arts some years ago--no benign Wiccan. ;)  She ordered a couple of vintage Aleister Crowley's as well, and she was always on the lookout for the really dark stuff.  Interesting character--I never knew her name, could only contact her on a pager to tell her her orders had arrived, and she wouldn't park her car within three blocks of the shop.  When she came in, she paid in cash.  She claimed to be a vampire, although daylight didn't seem to bother her, particularly.

A tall, dramatic blonde--Elizabeth hated her on sight.   ;;D  Last I heard, she was moving to New Orleans.

Book people are weird sometimes.   :o

Best wishes,

George
