Title: Where the hell have I been?
Post by nani on Apr 7th, 2007, 9:12am
I've barely been around the last 6 weeks. For a damn good reason, though. As some of you know, I'm the Volunteer Coordinator for my local Habitat for Humanity. Well, for the last 6 weeks, we've been having the Collegiate Challenge. I've had 165 high school and college students from all over the country spend their Spring Breaks working for us. They built 2 homes in under 30 work days!
I have a bunch of photos...so I'm gonna share because I am SO proud of these kids. I forgot my camera at my office, so I don't have the last photos of the finished homes  :-/

These homes were pre-built and shipped already framed.
Week one Alma College, Alma Michigan:

good work Nani. Habitat for Humanity is a good cause. We used to work with it quite a bit (back in my contractor days) and it really is a great thing. Those kids can be a hoot. We worked with high school kids.

Keep up the good work even if you are just being selfish (and we all know it's just so's you can grab a feel ever now and then.... ;) )

Hugs BD

I don't rock...those kids rock. They worked their butts off, when they could have spent their week partying. They did something to change the world, and Jeff, I was happy to meet these future leaders. They gave me hope, LOL.
Volunteer Coordinator is my job. It is the best job in the world, though. I'm a lucky woman.

Nani, Nani, Nani just think of all the wonderful ways you've affected these people... from the volunteers to the inhabitants and straight down the road to their offspring. I often find it amazing how ones life is so profoundly influenced and affected by people like you. Good people do good things.

Thank you.

with warm regards,
Tony

Great job, Nani!

We usually read only things about our young people getting in to trouble.  It's wonderful to see that the next generation just might turn out OK!

Thanks for the great work!

Sandy
