People think Im insane because I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think Ill lose my mind if I dont find something to pacify

Can you help me thought you were my friend
Whoah yeah

I need someone to show me the things in life that I cant find
I cant see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal

And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but its too late
;)

Yorky,

It's great that listening to that song gives you positivity. :)

I couldn't play a song very loudly at our appartment; I can hear when a neighbour is singing at her place and it's not the flat next to us!

Let the music kick the beast hell outta your head. ;)

sabbath dont kick the beasts ass nothing will

heres a little snippet from me for ya yorky

Remember when you were young,
You shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes,
Like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire
Of childhood and stardom,
Blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!

Here's the Floyd song that reaffirmed my desire to leave the music business after college. Now I don't play to please anybody but myself. If others like it, all the better:

Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar.
You're gonna go far, fly high,
You're never gonna die, you're gonna make it if you try; they're gonna love you.
Well I've always had a deep respect, and I mean that most sincere.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think.
Oh by the way, which one's Pink?

And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?
We call it Riding the Gravy Train.

We're just knocked out.
We heard about the sell out.
You gotta get an album out,
You owe it to the people. We're so happy we can hardly count.
Everybody else is just green, have you seen the chart?
It's a helluva start, it could be made into a monster if we all pull together as a team.

And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?
We call it Riding the Gravy Train.

My grandson doesn't know it yet, but he's going to his first concert in June  ;;D

Since I have a couple of these, I guess I'll just have to be the one to take him  8)

Too bad Gilmour won't be on lead but Waters always does a good job of putting together a good show.

He's doing the entire DSOM start to finish along with others. I'm sure he'll be doing his latest...the song from "The Last Mimzy"

He was quoted in a recent article about how he'd like to go on tour with the rest of the "boys".........as long as he could be in charge  :-X

I have a custom (rule) in my house. I take all my kids/grandkids to their first and 2nd concerts. Their first has always been to one of my choosing and then I take them to one of their choosing. We learn to appreciate each other's musical tastes. They get to show me what they think is good, at their early age, and I get to give them a sample of what's really good.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Makes for some interesting concert trips. One of the best my kids ever chose was Cyndi Lauper, back in "the day" Made me a fan ever since. She put on a great show it helped that she had Rory Gallagher on lead guitar.

I've sat through the Backstreet Boys and the New Kids on the Block and they've learned to appreciate everyone from the Moody Blues to Aerosmith to Kenny Wayne Sheppard to The Stones.

Next week I take my grand daughter to see Martina McBride. It'll be her first but it won't count against either of us as our "choice" since we both like her.
But she's going to have to pay with a Jonny Lang concert anyway ;-)

You know its funny. I've sat through some opening acts for a show I really wanted to see and found that once I saw them live I had a whole new appreciation for them.

Never cared much for Billy Joel albums. I saw him with Elton John and I've been an avid Billy Joel fan ever since. He blew Elton away.

Yeah, I thought Rogers was a good choice for Queen. They didn't try to find what would have been a 2nd rate Freddy Mercury replacement. Rogers just has to be himself and certainly has the talent for it.

Opening acts...
I once bought front row seats to a Cranberries concert, just so I could see the opening act. It was Collective Soul, and they have ten times the talent of the Cranberries. I think they had more fans there than the Cranberries.

Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph,
sail on the steel breeze.
Come on you boy child, you winner and loser,
come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine

I think I will put some Floyd on now for background, but I just know in a few minutes I will be "cranking it up" It does that to me every time I put it on. ;;D ;;D

YYYEEEESSSS!!!! That's it York...I just watched it...thanks, that song makes me heart ache..really...and always has...especially the second part...I also watched Comfortably Numb Live...that is an awesome song...I love The Wall..."where are all the good times? And who's gonna show this stranger around?"
It is very ironic that you brought up Pink Floyd...about a year ago I found and bought "The Wall" the videotape at a yard sale... I thought "this is a weird thing to be here"  so I had to buy it... I watched it a thousand times..and had everyone else watching it with me...and then a week ago I was at my parent's house...and my father has the dvd..."The Wall" and lately Pink Floyd had just been showing up...also "Sherry" which I hadnt heard for years...about two weeks ago I heard it on the radio and mentioned it to my mother...she said "I love that song"...it has followed me my whole life of course..cant help but love it...Thanks for the pleasure of seeing that video and hearing that songs...cause "Any fool knows a dog needs a home....a shelter..from Pigs on the wing....         Sherri

that is a cool story about the inflatable pig...Ill remember that fact.  It would be wild to see that floating overhead...especially now... I would drop everything that was in my hands on the ground...did anyone else just SEE that??  or would it be like having clusters...where I'm the only one that can "see" them...

Roger Waters does"pigs on a wing" on the DVD,
"ROGER WATERS  in the flesh-live". Done very well.
I sure have enjoyed the Floyd memories and the video clips were great.

Maybe it'll help to know that Wish You Were Here isn't about being together in a physical sense, but about being like-minded, understanding the world in a similar way, and feeling the same way about issues and each other. Together in mind and spirit.
My guess is that "he" is there with you.

All the best to the guy and to you.

And to Linda......sorry sweetie, no more kids for me....4 is my limit and now I'm trying to keep up with my grandkids. One more on the way any day now. I've been known to take good friends to concerts though. You'd always be a welcome guest.

Marlinsfan....I'll try to come back with a review for ya.
Although I'm happy that this one is in a closed stadium ( I saw the In The Flesh tour in an outdoor arena) as I'm hoping for a great light show. I am a bit worried that my 12 y.o. grandson will be walking out with a contact high  :-/

Yorky...
Syd (R.I.P.) did not die, institutionalized, if that what you meant. Tough accent you have ;-)
He just lived a quiet life away from the public and put his former life of music and art on the shelf. Yes, he did have major problems, that lead to his leaving the band and that life.....but he wasn't as badly off as many people thought. At least from my understanding.

Also, yes he (Syd) was there in the beginning and was a driving force in the early work, but had little influence on what most of the world knows as the music of Pink Floyd. (Other than the songs his mates sang about him and how Waters, Wright and Mason may have been personally influenced)
Many people don't know much about the early Barrett work such as See Emily Play or Arnold Layne and not much mention is made of his great work on Interstellar and Pipers......as witnessed by the "favorites" mentioned in this thread.

Sorry to go off on this. As you can tell..it's a topic I enjoy.  ;;D

me too ,.......did you know...

when the boys where writing/playing

"shine on you crazy diamond) in the studio.

they had not seen or heard from syd in months.

well accidently (pure coincidence ) he walked in on them rehearsing his tribute.

he fcked up big style on allucagenics...he did get sectioned for a while.

then became a recluse (sheltered accomadation)

he only (only) left 1 million when died.

i did hear he shunned the royalties.

early floyd mmmmmm ok....

cant stand "ummagumma"  (all 4 did a quater of the album, in there own style....with no interference or input into each others quater.

Thank You "Pink Floyd" for your kind and encouraging words...and I do understand re "wish you were here" and rarerly do I give in to being down about the situation...however...that song and the music are very touching...of course our hearts, minds and spirits are always together...after not seeing him for nearly two years, knowing he's still alive...I want to see his face, touch his skin...I miss my husband...and he's coming here for midtour leave in about 16 days...and that is wonderful...but in some ways it raises the anxiety...I am well aware how quickly things can change....and when someone is still "here" with us...never will I miss the opportunity to touch them...tell them how much I love them...there are already many people I must remember without being to do that... Thanks....Sherri

York,
To answer your question regarding "A life not yet touched by clusters...thirteen years into into..etc"...I meant, after thirteen years of living with chronic CH'S...I can't remember what it was like before I had them...I really can't.  To get through events, dinners, doing the laundry, etc. without interruption... :-/ :-/ [smiley=huh.gif]....oh well, onward and upward  :)
