Title: Hope Springs Eternal Post by Brewcrew on Apr 2nd, 2007, 10:51am Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today! We’re born again, there’s new grass on the field. A-roundin’ third, and headed for home, it’s a brown-eyed handsome man; Anyone can understand the way I feel. Oh, put me in, coach - I’m ready to play today; Put me in, coach - I’m ready to play today; Look at me, I can be centerfield. Well, I spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin’ it from the bench; You know I took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out. So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio; Don’t say "it ain’t so", you know the time is now. Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes; You know I think it’s time to give this game a ride. Just to hit the ball and touch ’em all - a moment in the sun; (pop) it’s gone and you can tell that one goodbye! |

Title: Re: Hope Springs Eternal Post by Redd on Apr 2nd, 2007, 11:14am Sun? What sun? It's cold and blustery...I want a smoke, but as of today the workplace and all Property are 100% tobacco free. We no longer can leave the grounds on our paid 15 minute breaks, and violations can result in termination. We can't even smoke in our cars if they are in the parking lot. This is not gonna be pretty.... :-X |

Just grab ahold of something, bite your lip, and give 'er hell. We're gonna get through this. Wow, Pegg. I don't know what to say other than start looking around, or negotiate unpaid breaks. That sucks. Anyway, the baseball season starts today, and for me that means warmer, drier weather is just around the corner. |

John Fogerty. Not quite as talented (cough) as eminem, nor as famous, certainly not as rich. But there's a place for him in the musical world, I'd say. ;;D |

I stay as far away from opening day as possible. It's amateur day (like New Year's Eve). But I'll listen to it because I like baseball - a lot. |

Oh, silly Minnie - of course Little League is where it's at. My bride and I served on the board of directors for our local Little League for 7 years. But I can cheer at different levels, right? Watching pros play baseball is fun, but watching kids play baseball is, well - it makes the spirit whole again. |

Title: Re: Hope Springs Eternal Post by AussieBrian on Apr 4th, 2007, 9:02pm Down in the big smoke recently and found myself in one of those new-fangled pubs full of gadgets, gizmos and flashing lights a back country boy like me could never imagine. Was stunned to be served by a robot who got my beer then straightaway asked my IQ. Caught off guard I admitted to 160 so we yarned happily about thermo-nucleic diathermy, string theory and various aspects of rocket surgery. Most enlightening. Started to get busy so I moved down the bar a bit where another robot got me a beer and asked my IQ. Intrigued, I said about a hundred, and we chatted merrily about cars, girls, couple of lousy gags, girls, cars and girls. You know how it is. More people around me, and I'm not good at crowds, so I moved to the far end where another robot again asked the obvious question. Purely in the interests of science I said, "Well, I know about the near queue and I know about the far queue, but I don't know nuttin' about no high queue." Slowly, almost tenderly, the robot asked if I'd be betting on the Boston RedSox this year. |
