Title: Anyone in the Texas Panhandle... Post by Gator on Mar 28th, 2007, 8:09pm and Western Oklahoma? There are tornado watches/warnings posted through the night and an F1 or F2 tornado on the ground with multiple vortexes tearing shit up right now in the Texas panhandle near Clarendon (Southeast of Amarillo). |

Title: Re: Anyone in the Texas Panhandle... Post by Kevin_M on Mar 28th, 2007, 8:41pm Our temps have been fluctuating wildly, from below normal to a record high in the 80's the other day, just thunderstorms followed though. Every couple days are different. Careful down there. on 03/28/07 at 20:09:52, Gator wrote:

Title: Re: Anyone in the Texas Panhandle... Post by BarbaraD on Mar 29th, 2007, 6:06am Apparently they're trying to hit all around us up here. One touched down around Shreveport and then wandered up into AR. We got the fallout from it, but I slept thru it. Heard it on the news yesterday morning. We had a couple of trees knocked down, but they were dead and needed clearing out anyhow (saved Buddy having to chop them down). But the rain did settle the pollen some -- Found out my truck is Silver NOT yellow! Gator tis just the season. (Isn't it early this year?) We're going to get the warnings and some of them are going to hit. They're so weird. I remember the one that hit Paris some years back. Had a grandmother and aunt who lived two blocks off the square (where it hit). they were standing out in their yard "watching" the damn thing - it was "windy" in their yard and tore the square to pieces. One hit the subdivision where I lived one year. I got up, noticed a tree down in my yard, got in the car, went to work and found out we'd had a tornado. I slept thru it. One of the guys I worked with took me for a ride -- it tore up half the subdivision and I didn't even notice it and it had hit right beside my house. Those things are just totally unpredictible. Guess I just don't spend time worrying about things I can't do anything about. My daughter-in-law got upset with me the other night when she was hysterical cause I was going to bed in the middle of the storm. I told her if I ended up in Oz, I'd click my heels three times and be home in time to cook dinner over the weekend. Seriously, there's not anything we can do to control them or get out of the way cause we don't know where they're going to hit or when, so why worry about it. One place is about as safe as another. (Unless you wanna go to a storm shelter and I have an aversion to them and will take my chances above ground thank you very much). Hugs BD |
