Title: High School Sweethearts (updated) Post by UN solved on Mar 22nd, 2007, 9:19pm I've been single every since I started posting on this board. I've kind of enjoyed it too. I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want, with whom ever I want. Well ... I got an e-mail from an X flame. She was pretty much my first real love. ( We stayed together for about 5 years. That was a long, long time ago. ) so anyways, we had lunch the other day in Louisville. She wants to go out again tomorrow. I'm a little nervous. ( I've been single for so long ) I don't even know what we're going to do tomorrow night. I think I have a new girlfriend !! 8) UNsolved Any romance tips from you ladies ? ( you guys don't know what I mean, I know ... it's okay ::) ) |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by BarbaraD on Mar 22nd, 2007, 9:39pm Be yourself and be her friend. I don't really know how old you are (and am too lazy to go look it up), but a lot of times friendship is better than romance, especially when you've known someone that long. Oh yeah -- and be sure to open doors and pick up the tab. :D Girls like that. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by DonnaHar on Mar 22nd, 2007, 10:48pm Do not under any circumstances mention any other relationships, when you first had sex and with whom or anything that pertains to your previous love life. Just relax and enjoy the company and ask questions about her. If you find that you are, show that you are interested in getting to know what she's all about. |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by Redd on Mar 22nd, 2007, 10:58pm Donna, as a single woman I disagree with you. Always always always tell the truth. No matter the question, tell the truth, because if the relation takes off well, it will come to light at some time if you've lied and then you'll be in a position to start another line of lies to cover up the first ones. It becomes a viscious cycle. Don't go there. Be honest to her and yourself. Nothing good ever comes from deciept. |
||
Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by DonnaHar on Mar 22nd, 2007, 11:05pm I think you might have misunderstood me. I didn't say to lie, I just said don't bring it up. I've had someone I really could have cared for talk excessivly about past relationships, how he young he was when his familys houskeeper seduced him, etc. and it was an immediate turn off. No, I don't believe in lying.....I just think it is not productive to talk about past relationships. |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by BB on Mar 23rd, 2007, 12:13am Dear Unsolved, First of all congratulations :) , its nice to have a bit of romance in life to spice things up, the things that make your heart go flip flop can brighten the whole outlook. The fact that she emailed you first for a date then wanting to go out again TOMORROW means that she thinks you are pretty cool and good looking too 8) So relax, be yourself, have fun. A confident, funny and genuine guy is extremely sexy to any woman :) . Just have fun and enjoy the company, enjoy the things you will do together, no matter what it is. However, if things are going to be serious then think first about whether or not you are willing to let go of your freedom as a bachelor and then what it was that caused the rift between you and her all those years ago, to make sure that its not still there. In the meantime, be yourself and she wont be able to resist your charm :) Good luck with it all. Annette |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2007, 4:26am I think I see a correlation. Might be that spending 8 hrs a day on this board doesn't do much for your social life. And as much fun as it is for us, most chicks probably don't think it's quite as cool as we do... So your romance advice is to step away from the computer for a while! ;) [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by LeLimey on Mar 23rd, 2007, 4:47am Just be yourself - for me thats the only thing I want from a man, no false expectations, no doing stuff he won't keep up, just letting me see him as he is and that havin the confidence to be yourself with no "gimmicks" is very sexy! Nothing is nicer than being with people who are comfortable in their own skin Now have a wonderful day! |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by Mr. Happy on Mar 23rd, 2007, 2:51pm Nail her ASAP (with HER enthusiastic permission.) Request mutual STD tests. It shows maturity and responsibility. Once you both clear the air of all that pheromone laden sexual tension, THEN go out and see if you can both handle a nights worth of conversation and personal interest. Nothing worse than spending Months working up to the Big Moment, only to discover the Ultimate Goal ain't whatcha thunk. Sex is only 5% of a relationship, until you have to do without it. Then it becomes 95%. Get a good Root out of the way. You have MUCH more important stuff to worry about in the long term. (Especially at Your age.) Ahhhhh-yup. RJ |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by UN solved on Mar 24th, 2007, 8:43pm It didn't go so well folks. :-/ I found out early that some things came up and I had to stick around the house so I called her early in the day to let her know what had happened and I invited her to my house ... she understood and accepted the invite to come over. She was late ... very late. I ended up giving up on her thinking she was mad at me and she didn't understand what had happened (or didn't care). BUT .. she did show up .... at 3:30 am drunk as hell. She puked outside before coming in. Then she was all over me ... I had to 'beat her off with a stick'. Then she passed out in my bed. She got up early, gave me a kiss on the cheek and left. I just got an email a little bit ago asking if I 'still respected' her. I'm turned off. I don't need a drunk ::) I got enough to deal with. UNsolved PS. She still wants to go out with me badly. What say you ? |

Title: Re: We Were High School Sweethearts Post by alienspacebabe on Mar 24th, 2007, 9:27pm First, think it through and possibly give her another chance. You don't know what was going through her head, why she showed up in that state. It wasn't so much a 'first date' as it was a first re-date. Things happen - give her a chance to explain, and to show you the real her. That said, if things go the same, time to move on - you deserve better. on 03/23/07 at 14:51:39, Mr. Happy wrote:

Unless of course you are addicted to drama, and disappointment... then by all means pursue her. Michael you've done the right thing hon, as for replying to her emails I'd be very bluntly honest as to why I didn't want to see her again - anything less is like leaving a door open and it sounds like you don't want to. Title: Re: High School Sweethearts (updated) Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Mar 25th, 2007, 1:36pm Bro, if she is cool, I would give her another chance. Granted, showing up drunk and puking for a date is pretty bad. As a matter of fact, its outright fucked up, probly means she is a bunny boiler. On second thought, run for the hills, bro, lest you'll wind up like that dude who had his bloody penis thrown into a field and needed hound dogs to track it down. If anyone ever shows up drunk and puking at my house at 3:30am, including the wife, they would be in tears by 3:31 and back outside the house by 3:32. Course, thats just me. |

Usually people are on their best behaviour at the beginning. If this is her best I can't wait to see what is down the road. She sounds like a head case. Good for you backing down. Not too many men would back down from free sex or taking advantage of the situation. |

Title: Re: High School Sweethearts (updated) Post by fubar on Mar 26th, 2007, 12:19pm Take this with a grain of salt since I am recently divorced from a nightmare 15-year marriage to a drunkard wife... You don't need nice words to tell her anything. Being polite at this point simply sends confusing messages, as in "I don't want you, but I might want you so I don't want to piss you off, so please don't be mad at me... blah blah blah. You could be more direct (and save yourself a lot of pain) by saying "I don't date drunks." and trust me, she will be running away. |
