Title: I aint forgot y'all Post by rickyshot on Mar 22nd, 2007, 2:24pm Well it is me Ricky and I am good. I have been mostly pain free since my last cycle. I still bust and am due for a cycle anyday but so far no signs thank God. I have been busy with my family . My grandchild is five months and is a doll. My kids are good. I went to Jamaica and have a special friend there. Saw my family there too. My work has gotten very busy and I can't go on the puter as much. Money is short so I can't go to the convention this year as much as I would love to. Nice to see the old faces here. |

Title: Re: I aint forgot y'all Post by Callico on Mar 22nd, 2007, 2:36pm Glad you came back. Try to come around as often as you can. I know sometimes it is good to get away for a while when the CH is not active, but you are still valuable to the rest of us then too. Hope the beast doesn't come calling at all this year. (or ever!) jc |

Title: Re: I aint forgot y'all Post by Brewcrew on Mar 22nd, 2007, 4:01pm Wouldn't the proper southern grammar be, "I ain't forgot all y'all?" Nice to see you're doing alright. We worry, you know. |

Title: Re: I aint forgot y'all Post by Callico on Mar 22nd, 2007, 5:48pm Brew, he would have been more proper to have said "you'uns". Y'all is singular, you'uns is plural. ;;D I tried splaining that to my English teacher one time, but she didn't understand, having been brought up in a Yankee school. I told her that her lack of understanding was a sure sign that she hadn't had proper fetchin's up. ;;D (Something else for you blank Yankees to try to figure out!0 |

Well, from the way she described it shortly after arriving, the thought that Ricky's Hot never entered her mind. It was supposed to be a Southern phonetic thing meaning Ricky's Short (pronounced shawt or shot), but having seen and had dinner with her in Milwaukee, I can tell you that either way is true. Welcome back Ricky! |

Perhaps it's a regional dialect thang? I don't claim to be an expert, but the company I work for is based in Memphis, so I encounter a lot of Memphibians (Memphites? Memphisonians? Whatever.). A lot of them say "all y'all." What do I know? ;;D |

Title: Re: I aint forgot y'all Post by Gator on Mar 27th, 2007, 9:57am Y'all is a word like deer. It can be either singular or plural, as context warrants. There are times when it is necessary to specifically include other members of a group, when the inclusion may not be understood. "All y'all" is the appropriate terminology in this case. You'uns is archaic hick slang for "all y'all." Hope this clears that up. 8) LOL |
