Title: Think I'm gettin' sentimental (or OLD) Post by BarbaraD on Mar 21st, 2007, 2:49pm We're planning a family reunion at the farm in about a month or so and I'm working on the "invites". I've talked to cousins I haven't thought of in 30 or 40 years and am having a great time doing it. They've brought up things I'd forgotten about and it's been so much fun reminissing. Can't wait till 100 or so of 'em show up for the reunion -- CHAOS time. But we decided it was time to get together and catch up somewhere besides a funeral (always at least one person missing from those). Since our farm is the old "home place" we decided to have it here. I'm really getting excited. Went to the beauty shop today and found more "long lost relatives" there -- more to add to the invite list. I'd forgotten how much fun the country can be. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Think I'm gettin' sentimental (or OLD) Post by Sandy_C on Mar 21st, 2007, 3:29pm Family reunions can be a wonderful time to see all those long-lost relatives. I was an only child, but grew up with many aunts and uncles, and there were eleven cousins, all within 10 years apart in age. We spent every Christmas together at our grandparent's house while we were growing up and were very close. Over the years, all of the aunts and uncles have passed away (I am now the matriarch of the family - she says with a deep sigh), and although we keep in touch by e-mail now and then, the cousins have drifted apart. We are spread from coast to coast, so getting together is difficult for many. We're all in our 50's and 60's now, so maybe we should make an effort for a face to face meet & greet! Have fun! Sandy |

Title: Re: Think I'm gettin' sentimental (or OLD) Post by BarbaraD on Mar 21st, 2007, 6:58pm Thomas the invitations read anyone in the Henderson/Kellum clan or claiming kin or wanna claim kin, so I guess that includes all the "kids". Come on down... april 28th at Henderson Farms -- 8 miles N of Linden on the Left. Can't miss it... 4 - wheelers welcome - Tailgates acceptable (BYOB) Kids RULE! No Holds Barred. ;;D Sound like your kind of party? I can hardly wait. Think I'm gonna get some name tags that read, "Hi - My name is _____ and I belong to _____. Found out from one cousin we got another dentist in the family (knew about one - was around when he got out of school - the kid went in practice with his uncle). But this kid was in diapers the last time I saw him. That makes three doctors. Not bad huh? I can hardly wait to see how some of the others have turned out. There were 13 Kellum kids to start with and they multiplied quite plentiful... My mother-in-law had 6 and her sisters tried to keep up. I think there are about 90 of us just in the Henderson Clan. This should be a LOT of fun. I have a friend who watches papers for wakes and family reunions and goes to them. His theory is -- there's so many people there - who knows who is kin and who's not... and the food is always good. ;;D Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Think I'm gettin' sentimental (or OLD) Post by JenniferD on Mar 21st, 2007, 7:12pm oh Barb! It sounds like wonderful fun in the making! I so miss all of my cousins. We had the 5 Zielinski kids and the 5 Whitty kids, all about the same ages, plus the younger ones. Now we are the adults and our kids are "the cousins". Damn. Last time we got together was at Granny's funeral. We tried to get something going for my parents' 50th anniversary, but Mom is adamantly opposed to a large party.......................sigh. I hope you a have a freakin BLAST! Love ya, Jen |

Title: Re: Think I'm gettin' sentimental (or OLD) Post by Shaz on Mar 22nd, 2007, 11:34am It sounds great Barb. We are having a big family get together this year as well. Its my Dads 77th birthday on the 7th day of the 7th Month 2007, so thats a good enough reason to celebrate. Mum is busy designing the invites at the mo. I am very close to my bros and sisters and see loads of them but as is often the case, the only other times everybody gets together is for and weddings and yes, the weddings are great, but the others not brill. Cant wait til July Shaz xxx |

Title: Re: Think I'm gettin' sentimental (or OLD) Post by BarbaraD on Mar 23rd, 2007, 4:50pm I'm having cousins coming out of the woodwork. Eveyone is getting really excited. This is gonna be a lot of fun. Everyone is wanting to know what to bring. Do I look like Martha Stewart. Bring what you want or nothing. I don't have a "planned" menu -- It's whatever... There will be FOOD - that I can promise. If the fish bite between now and then -we'll probably have fish - if not - hot dogs(?) hamburgers (?) whatever -- It's a REUNION -- not a gormet dinner..... ;;D Ok, everyone knows me and they know how far ahead I plan things -- ;;D hugs BD |
