Title: Re: Living in a small town Post by JenniferD on Mar 17th, 2007, 8:47pm Thanks Tony. The photo is the first with a new camera and I'm still learning how to use it. The photo doesn't catch the details though, or the definition. It turned out pretty well, all things considered. Mrs. Clarke liked it though! |

Title: Re: Living in a small town Post by Cathi04 on Mar 17th, 2007, 9:55pm And in the other corner, would we find the pickle barrel and the guys playing checkers?? I just love it, Jenn.....a piece of "back when"! Anyone remember the corner store? Ours was green...and I doubt anyone bought anything there but the penny candy! I loved the wax lips- unwrapped, of course! Cathi |

Title: Re: Living in a small town Post by JenniferD on Mar 17th, 2007, 10:10pm LOL y'all crack me up! Clarke's is a page out of time. We have a lot of 'em here in Tappahannock, and I want to paint all of them. Next might be the local pharmacy with the old-time lunch counter. Its charming as hell. |

Title: Re: Living in a small town Post by Callico_Kid on Mar 20th, 2007, 12:04pm I'm homesick!!! Been in the city too long! That isone of the things I enjoy about driving over the road now, that I get to stop inplaces like that when I see them. It has just a bit more personality than a Super WalMart. Jerry |

Title: Re: Living in a small town (VOTE) Post by JenniferD on Mar 20th, 2007, 10:42pm Thank you all. Next up is definitely Tappahannock Pharmacy. I have an idea! how bout YOU GUYS pick the next??! the pharmacy? http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m211/darryljen/pharmacy.jpg the restaurant? http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m211/darryljen/lowreysrestaurant.jpg or the barber shop? http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m211/darryljen/leesbarber.jpg YOU tell ME what to paint next :) |

Title: Re: Living in a small town (VOTE) Post by JenniferD on Mar 21st, 2007, 7:06pm I started painting the pharmacy soda fountain, but I am SO STOKED over doing the barber shop! I drove past this morning, just before the sun rose, and the old guy was inside already cutting someone's hair. It was still kinda dark out, and the barber pole was lit, the light from inside broke the dark outside. It was so surreal and absolutely picture perfect! I spoke with the proprietor this afternoon and took some inside pics; tomorrow I'll take early morning shots to get that lit inside effect. I can't wait to paint it! Thank you all for your encouragement! Hugs, Jen |
