For the last few years, Oklahoma has been very much behind in rainfall. You might remember last year we had thousands of acres burn due to wildfires. The humidity has been down in the teens and the winds steadily blowing so the ground is a tinderbox just waiting for a match. Only two days ago there were reports of wildfires burning around the state. Sooooo, what does the idiot across the road from me decide to do yesterday? Why, burn his pasture, of course.

I was fixing lunch for the grand daughter and smelled something burning. Looked out the front door and saw the flames and smoke boiling into the air across the road. Eventually, three fire trucks responded and the fire was contained mostly on this clown's property. If it had jumped the road, we would have been screwed. I had no vehicle with which to escape and the only way out of here was in the direction of the fire.

The fact that the winds were unusually calm yesterday was his, and maybe everyone else's, saving grace. Problem is, around here, you can't count on the winds staying calm. In the late winter/early spring unusually warm weather usually means strong winds. Yesterday was a fluke. Thank God!

I am so glad you and the family are safe. This could have been a nightmare for sure! Things like this make you wonder where common sense has gone?

Seems every neighborhood has it's share of wankers. We had one jerk who decided it was a cool idea to set off fireworks one summer during a dry spell that we had here. Grass was almost all brown, trees were wilting and this yahoo started shooting fireworks that landed on all of our lawns, cars and the roof of my house.

I went from zero to bitch in 1.5 seconds right after I called the police.

Thank goodness this jerk is now living in Florida.

Wonder where this clown was when the good Lord was handing out brains!

That would be very scary to see fire coming at you with no escape route.

I am glad you werent affected by this persons most stupid action.

How some major disasters can be caused by one small mindless act.

Is he likely to be prosecuted for this stunt? I hope he learnt a lesson.

Here in Oz we're moving away from the term 'fire-bug' and replacing it with 'bushland-arsonist', so as to give proper weight to the seriousness of the offence.

Gator, just looking at that reminds me of when I lived in San Diego. The whole place was on fire a few years ago. It seemed like everywhere you drove, you couldn't help but see part of some mountain on fire. And the smoke, it was so bad, you couldn't even see more than 20 feet in front of you, not to mention breath.

And usually more times than not in California, the fires are started by an arson.

Thank God the fire was at least that far away from you and that you're still here to tell us about it. Great picture.
