Title: Anyone ever had an ulcer? *Update*
Post by kimmiedawn81 on Mar 2nd, 2007, 9:30am
I'm not sure if I do or not, but the symptom that I'm having now is that 2-4 times a week my stomach will start hurting so bad, it's like a burning sensation, below my breastbone, but above my belly button and it normally lasts for a couple of hours.

Any thoughts?

My husband describes his pain the same way and his Dr diagnosed him with "reflux. He takes Prilosec OTC which takes care of the pain. I feel for you--my husband's pain was so bad I was afraid he had gall stones. I wouldn't put off going to the Dr to find out what it is---better safe than sorry. Take care.........

Been there...  Pain was just like you describe.  I was diagnosed with erosion of the esophogus.  3 months of Protonix did wonders.

Just below the breast bone is classic heart burn.   OTC meds work pretty good.  Best suggestion is stay away from greasy food, avoid sweets and acidic foods and eat regularly.

Never had one. I think it's because of all the lead paint chips I ate as a kid. Of course I have the occasional twich now and then and there's that hand growing out my back thing.

Go to your doc and get checked out. If it's an ulcer, they treat it with antibiotics. Most likely just heartburn. Zantac works well for me.

Good luck, Kimmie!

I had a bleeding ulcer for many years.  You need to see a dr and get a proper diagnosis and they can give you meds for it.  Take care.

I've had 2 ulcers.....one in the '60's and one in the 2000's and they were treated so differently that you wouldn't know they were the same problem.

You usually feel pain in the stomach when you are getting hungry.  Eating relieves the pain.  You also have to belch a lot, and when you do, you feel better for a while and then it builds up and you have to belch again.

Todays ulcer meds are so simple.....you don't have to eliminate certain foods or go on any special diet.  Take the meds and the ulcer is gone in a couple of weeks.

It's more simple than GERD!

See a doc.  Don't self treat.

Good luck.

I'm particularly fond of the table that turns you bottom up so they get a good shot at you.

Had a duodenal ulcer about 20 years ago from taking too many asprin (over 500 in one month).  Knew I was in trouble when I started barfing up blood.

Sounds like heartburn. Next time it comes on try AlkaSelzer. Works like a charm.

Have I ever had an ulcer? Yes........it was cured by a
judge. He granted me a divorce.

The doc gave me Aciphex, for what he thinks may be an ulcer.  He also gave me Enablex because at the age of 25 I have overactive bladder (I'm not 70, I'm 25!!!  >:()  He also wanted to test me for diabetes, but it showed that I have extremely low blood sugar, which they started to worry about, but need to wait it out to see how I do with the Aciphex and the Enablex!

Damn, I'm weening off of the Inderal so that I won't have to take as much medication and now I'm on more!  >:(
