Title: My first-ever trigger Post by AussieBrian on Feb 21st, 2007, 8:10pm Ten years I endured this hell not even knowing what it was but always searching, searching for whatever it was might be causing them. Never found a thing. Now, fully twenty tears after at least being able to put a name to it and knowing that triggers certainly exist, I've still never even come close to putting my finger on one. Nary so much as the first hint and at different times I've dropped the most unimaginable things from my diet/daily-regimen/life. This time round, however, it's different and I can say without fear or favour that a trigger is upon me. I'm sort of happy and sad at the same time in that at least I know what I can avoid but, equally, it means giving in just a little and that rather grates upon my nerves. Ah, well, it's only happy daze ahead so if you'll excuse me I'll just pop out and make myself a nice, hot cuppa tea. Regards always to all, Brian down under. |

Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by BB on Feb 21st, 2007, 8:51pm Dearest Brian, You had touched my heart once by saying that since we are good friends you would sit with me over a cup of green tea, which you absolutely detest, just because I dont drink beer. Now this revelation is devastating! Its time for me to let you know that I would be honoured to sit and drink a beer with/for you any day. Hugs Annette |

Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by AussieBrian on Feb 21st, 2007, 9:09pm Yep, of all things, and it's shaping into one helluva fight. Just now it's round for round, pound for pound, and we're tied on points but fear not! Beastie-boy is back in his corner and upping the ante by upping the Kip-factor but my Cope Scale is sitting on 9+ so there's plent of ammo in the old armoury yet. Lost a couple of skirmishes in my time but never the war. |

What!!! You mean surrender??!! Fall to my knees and bow my little head so it can be chopped off, stomped upon, battered, burned and buried? Not while my back-side points the ground, old mate. Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by Kevin_M on Feb 21st, 2007, 10:22pm Ok, so the Brian tip and chug logo picture stays. Stay on your feet mate. I thought a pic of you wrestling a croc now or kangaroo boxing while holding the beer would be more telling. ;) |

Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by Lobster on Feb 22nd, 2007, 1:52am Beer? Man oh man. There are just times when it is not right to prolong the suffering. My wife would recognize that & drive me directly to the vet to be put down. Bury me under the tree in the yard with my favorite toy. :'( |

God the thought of the end of the day and having to sit down with a milk shake just doesn’t sound right. I can still remember what it tastes like Oh sigh. You may like to try stout, it works for me. Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by BarbaraD on Feb 22nd, 2007, 5:35am Some uplifting news.... For years BEER was a trigger for me. After years of doing without it - I just opened one and drank it one day -- nothing. Now I can drink one occasionally (Im not a really big drinker anyhow). Other alcohol didn't bother me - just beer. But now it doesn't trigger a HA. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Now go have a nice cup of tea... :D Hugs BD |

Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by AussieBrian on Feb 23rd, 2007, 7:26pm I thank you sincerely, one and all, for your kind words of encouragement and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. (Even Jonny, who I usually thank from the heart of my bottom.) I'd have replied sooner but Roger-the-lodger-the-sod is refusing to abide by the eviction order and I can tell you fair dinkum he's been in training since last time round the paddock. Picked up a couple of horrible new tricks and near had me down a couple of times. Gottim back, but, and then some. As usual I won't be using any medications as they've never worked in the past or, even if they did, just left me less capable of dealing with the next one. This is not a reccommendation by any means, and subject to change without notice, just my way of doing things. Can't even see O2 working this time either as we're going from 0 - 60 in under thirty seconds then max-impact inside another minute and that's where we stay until it's over. It's been my saviour any number of times before but, ah well, blessed be the bottle. O2, you be my wife, To you I owe my life. I lie with you, cry without you, Die should I not have you. Black bottle, you're so beautiful, Youthful, slim and touchable, Seductive, seducive and Oh! Just so sensual. Your slinkiness and hardness And coolness alone, Render me speechless, Entirely in your thrall. Let me breathe of your breath, New lease on life, not ugly death, To live again, be a man again, You're my be-all and end-all. Those taps and guages Drive me wild with desire. I must touch them and stroke them, Like stoking a fire. I'm burning and yearning And hearing you calling, Just seeing you there Like lingerie falling. O2! Please hold me, Let me be bold with you. We'll snuggle and cuddle, Kill this monster a-borning. It's not just chance meeting, Or love so fleeting, Thank you, O2, I'll respect you in the morning. Good health and a hot cuppa tea, Brian down under but not down. |

Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by Turts on Feb 25th, 2007, 8:33pm I too love a cupla beers after work. Fear not good buddy, for their a way that you can still enjoy the ritual of sitting down with a cold brown bottle without the beast sitting down with you. Its 'Coopers Birrell'. a fermented 'soft drink' made by Coopers. (who are a big home brew company here in Oz'). it has hops etc but only .005% alcohol. That is 10 of these is the same alcohol content as 1 stubby. Available at Woolies and Coles. Tastes like a beer even if its a wheaty german beer, looks like a beer. Turts |

Title: Re: My first-ever trigger Post by burnt-toast on Feb 26th, 2007, 10:00am As beer lover turned tea sippin sideliner by this nightmare I share your pain. Not being able to enjoy a good brew now and then is one of the meanest tricks this disorder plays on some of us. Best wishes, Tom |
