Title: My Polish Daughter! Post by JenniferD on Feb 17th, 2007, 9:10pm One of Hannah's jobs is working in a coffee shop, selling very expensive cups of coffee, latte, capa crapo, etc. She was filling a grinder with very expensive beans and whoops - the bag drops and spills the very expensive beans all over the floor. Not to worry, she thinks. I'll buy them, but just wash them off first. Ok folks, think this through. She is going to WASH coffee beans. In water. So she put the beans in a collander and runs HOT water over them..........to clean them, mind you. And she thinks to herself, "huh, there sure is a lot of dirt on these beans". WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT HOT WATER OVER COFFEE BEANS?????????? LOL Gotta love her, but she is oh! so much like her mother!!! |

Title: Re: My Polish Daughter! Post by BB on Feb 17th, 2007, 9:39pm LOL ! At least she tried to wash the beans, if it had been a son, he would just scoop them off the floor and put them straight back into the bag ! :P Right guys ? ;;D Annette |

Title: Re: My Polish Daughter! Post by Brewcrew on Feb 17th, 2007, 10:08pm Ask her this. When you make coffee, the water is near boiling (~ 190 - 200 deg. F). What does really hot water do to bacteria? |

What does really hot water do to dirt and bits of fluff and hair and all the goodies found on the floor of a busy coffee shop ? It floats them all the surface of the coffee, to be admired by all ... :P ;;D Annette |

No, Annette, it mixes them up with the coffee where they get trapped in the filter. It might have a little bit of an off taste, but one could think of it as character-building for the immune system. ;;D The other, more obvious option would be to throw it away. |

Title: Re: My Polish Daughter! Post by Brewcrew on Feb 18th, 2007, 9:23am As you wish, my friend. I choose to give my immune system a full workout every day so it will be ready to face any challenge I throw its way. I'll call it a coffee flavored immuno-boost. In Utica, NY, if you wanted to test your immune system, you ate lunch at Kewpees. Kewpees (Pukees 8)) was an old midwest burger chain. "Hamburg, Pickle On Top, Makes Your Heart Go Flippity Flop." Betcha you Wisconsin types know of it. Everyone said that they pissed in the pickle barrels. It wouldn't have surprised me. Actually, they weren't horrible. I lived pretty close to the place some 35 years ago. http://www.kewpee.com/images/uticakewpee.gif Charlie --Had to look it up. By gum, I found it. Sorry I got carried away. |

and what does that say about your cooking? [smiley=ops.gif] (In my house, it would probably be better-tasting than my cooking!) Jennifer, we all have our "blonde" moments. More than once, during a truly stressful day at work, I've gotten frustrated that I couldn't find the index in the back of a book..... The Dictionary of Real Estate Appraisal.
